Arrived in early October for a visit to this huge world war two bunker complex, built on an earlier Napoleonic fort. Unfortunately the museum was closed (on a Monday), which although disappointing was my own fault for lack of prior research. However you are able to wander around all the external bits of the site, including a large number of... More

Found this by accident whilst looking around the nearby campsite.a great monument to the American forces that were protecting St.Malo .wanted to have a look in the museum which is also in the emplacements but unfortunately it wasn't open on the day I was there .this would be of interest to many Americans researching the battles .

incredible to walk around and try to imagine the death and destruction that happened not so long ago. Well maintained without over dramatising the events.

The bunker complex is situated within the Vauban Fort De la Cite D'Alet and is well signposted from St Servan. The restored bunkers and tunnels which are open to the public are just a fraction of the 1.35 Km of tunnels and 32 bunkers that comprised the German fortress constructed in 1943. The tours are conducted in fast French. All... More

Excellent guided tour, showing the realities and horrors of war. Young guide was very knowledgeable and interested in the history, which makes a big difference when doing this type of work.

We visited on a hot afternoon, we were told that the experience of film plus guided tour would take 2 hours. We saw the 45 minute film first (others did this the other way round) we then had to wait 10 mins for a guided tour in French with some notes provided in English. We decided to opt out of... More

Very close to the cathedral so visitors can see both on the same visit. Interesting design and pay respects.

Took the bus to this museum. Not well signposted from the village and when we got there, it was closed! We arrived at 1.45 and were told it was closed until 2.30 and then only open for guided tours which lasted 2 hours. Frosty reception did not persuade us to wait so had a very nice lunch instead. If you... More

The French seem to value their many sites of 1939 to 1945 and althought the little musee itself was closed, the fort with its blockhouses was still interesting to look at and a good walk was had on a sunny march afternoon. Marvel at the cast iron turrets that were subject to such a pounding by artillery.great gashes and shell... More

I really wanted to see this place due to the historical significance. It looks and feels like it is just getting rolling as a museum site. I found it to be very interesting. One caveat, we walked from the City of San Malo, and it was quite a trek and not very well marked. Also, the person who led the... More
