Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Also known as Cathedrale de St. Vincent in some guide books. Roots of this church date back to time of Charlemagne. Current building is a mix of Roman and Gothic styles dating back to 1146-1163. Was heavily damaged in WWII when its steeple was toppled. Restoration was finally completed in 1972. The exterior is okay.... the real attraction is the beautiful interior -- especially the gorgeous stained glass windows. I also liked the modern altar. Don't miss it.

The place is beautiful. The atmosphere is relaxing and inspiring.
PMR access on the side is not really indicated.
Luckily a friend who knew the place accompanied me to guide me.
The wooden plan is sometimes cluttered with a prayer bench along, just at the entrance at step level. It is also necessary to make a way between visitors who enter and leave without respecting the priority.
Too bad that the second part of the chancel and chapel of the Blessed Sacrament is at the bottom of the internal steps, and that the forecourt is not accessible because of a step a little high.
The torchlight procession of 15 August leaves from there to the Bastion of Holland, without worry.

A very beautiful welcoming Cathedral in historically important Saint-Malo. Like Saint-Malo the massive Cathedral suffered major damage in WWII and restoration took 28 years, but it is now outstanding.
The old is spectacular and the modern is stunning. A rare example of old and new coming together perfectly we thought. In fact the new showcases some amazing artistic efforts by modern craftsmen. The Stained Glass windows were excellent.

This is a very sober and essential, but at the same time elegant, Gothic/Romanesque church. It suffered heavy bombing during World War II. For this reason the windows were rebuilt and yet, although with a modern style, they have preserved brightness and color with a delicate effect.

This church is in the absolute center of the old city. Re-built after the WWII bombing, it has an old feel. Most impressive were the massive stained glass windows which let in a lot of light. The windows have a modern style and modern craftmanship.

...Saint Vincent Cathedral within the walls of Saint-Malo.
As much for its architecture as for the “atmosphere” and the spirituality that it generates when you cross the threshold!
And a great Easter mass magnificently enhanced by a choir and great organ....to match the height of the building!!!

Certainly this cathedral was badly damaged by the bombings. But what remains is not highlighted. Few explanations, judiciously placed lights...
The only interesting side is the architecture and this mixture of Romanesque and Gothic but again no explanations highlighting the beauty of the vault
Beautiful statue of Notre Dame de la Grande Porte from the 17th century and interesting painting of the Apocalypse
The modern altar is a frank horror with its hospital green tones. Tastes and colors are subjective, but here we are far from the harmony and delicacy that we expect in a cathedral with very beautiful architecture

Cathedral located in centre of old Saint Malo old walled city. Park outside city in public car parks then few minutes walk. Free entrance. Fantastic restored stained glass windows within the cathedral. Must see part of and visit to the old walled city in Saint Malo.

When you walk in, you can not but taken aback by the history and tribulations that must be part of the history of this magnificant house of prayer. Be sure to walk about and read all the plaques. If you can, be sure to attend service there,

We always visit churches and this time were lucky. With many others we listened t o the rehearsals of the choir singing Gregorian chants. Apart from that it is one of many cathedrals that are deteriorating in France.
