Recommended by Lonely Planet, not only because of its lengthy full name - 'La cafe du coin d'en bas de la rue du bout de la Ville d'en face du port ... La java' but the eccentric decor. Glad we popped in. Loved the swing seating at the bar - but not brave enough to sit there. Hundreds of dolls... More

Go in here to enjoy the interior with all the puppets. The girl that was waitering, was doing her job. We had some normal coffees at very high prices.

First, the good. The decor in this place is authentically eclectic, what TGIF tries to achieve, full of European childhood history - dolls, comics, swings, birdcages, I recognized pictures from my 1970s French geographie book on the wall behind the bar. We were told the bar was one of the most beautiful in France! Not particularly beautiful, unless you have a doll fetish! The owner was rude and arrogant! We were overcharged 4.50 E on 22 E bill. When we confronted the owner, he was unapologetic and unwilling to refund the money! If you go to this bar, make sure you... More

Speaking good French we tried to order two coffees at the bar one morning in August. 'it's not Mcdonalds - sit down and I'll serve you at the table' we were told by the owner, whose rude and ready wit seems to match his curious fascination with dolls. We then proceeded to order... two coffees. Coffee OK, decor interesting, beer... More

Here in this delightful town is a treasure - a traditional French cafe that has been recognized as one of the most beautiful if not only of France but indeed of the world. It is a feast for the eyes - adorned with all sorts of decorations too numerous to mention. Spend time with its owner, Jean, who is an... More
