Amazing tour and tasting through the Burgundy region. We booked the tour early in the year for October and Joy and Robert were excellent in terms of providing advice and planning help ahead of the tour. Joy is very knowledgeable about the region, the wine, and the Domains. Also if you plan to ship any wine home they can help coordinate on that end as well. We highly recommend Burgundy Discovery as guides in Burgundy and I’m sure we will tour with them again on our next visit.

This was a fantastic day. It was educational and fun—for all members of our party who were at different interest levels entering the tour. I looked for quite a while before selecting this tour company because I wanted a tour on which I’d learn something. I wasn’t disappointed. What impressed me was that while each of the three tastings were prefaced by tours or information, there wasn’t anything repetitive and each bit added nicely to the last. The wines were delicious, the people informative and helpful and Tracy, our guide, was the best. She added so much to the day I can’t see why anyone would try to do this without someone of her caliber to lay a foundation and then tie it all together. Their recommendation for lunch was also delicious. For me, this was one of the high points of a month long vacation.

This was a great experience. Burgundy Discovery asked us a few initial questions to find out what we wanted to visit, and they took it from there, lining up visits to three wineries. They also provided us a tips and recommendations for visiting Beaune. Our guide and drive, Dylan, was outstanding. He was deeply knowledgeable about the region, the hard work performed at a winery and all of the back roads that looped through the wine country. We would highly recommend him as a guide. He even gave us a tip of a small local restaurant for dinner, which we wouldn't have known about --- and we had the good, casual dinner that we had hoped for. Burgundy Discovery and Dylan also helped us with wine shipments, handling all of the details and following up for us. Our visit with them couldn't have gone better.

Highly recommended. Joy made our trip very memorable and was great to work with in terms of crafting the perfect schedule for our time. Her knowledge of the area is invaluable to any tour around Burgundy. Well worth it!

This tour exceeded my lofty expectations. Joy was so informative and helped us understand the growing of the grapes and the making of the wines in Burgundy. We went to three wineries, where the representatives of the winery expounded further on their particular winemaking. We tasted many wonderful wines. We had a 2 hour delicious lunch during that time. This was probably the highlight of our stay in France. Lastly, Joy was so very helpful in getting wine shipped back home.

One should always visit a place like Burgundy with an expert, and we certainly did. Our visits were well planned, and the tour/drive through the vineyards was exactly what I hoped for. Robert gave us a great understanding and appreciation of the region and the wines. We visited during the peak of the harvest, and one of the wine makers gave us a tour and tasting. I am sure he had many other things to do and took his efforts as a sign of his relationship with and respect for Robert. Lunch was great as well - food, wine, and company. I was interested in wines from some properties that we did not visit, and Robert was helpful with that as well. Full, complete, and very knowledgeable service. Much appreciated and highly recommended.

We did the gourmet version which included lunch at a one hat Michelin restaurant excellent without be overbearing. It was a party of 2 couples (one English- great company, and ourselves Australians) unknown to each other before plus the guide Patrick. Patrick was simply outstanding , extremely knowledgable and smoothly blended his information to the party which ranged from informed to highly informed. Burgundy Discovery can cater smoothly to any level of knowledge without making anyone feel like a dill!

We are delighted to recommend Burgundy Discovery wine tours---www.burgundydiscovery.com. Our family recently traveled to Burgundy France and had an amazing private guided two day tour of the Beaune wine region by a lovely british couple whom we would highly recommend. They offer one day and multi day tours of the region at a very very reasonable price. It is first class and their knowledge of the area as well as the wines was amazing!! We tasted wines in several private wineries and were delighted to be able to purchase wines to take home, as well. We will be using them on every return trip!!

First of all, Joy and Robert are professional yet highly comfortable to work with in communication and making arrangements. Nothing about working with them was strained or difficult; even your earliest correspondence with them will epitomize the Burgundian aura of refined splendor.
The tour itself created one of those days all conscientious, experienced travellers are looking for: a life-long memory, complete with information, laughs, friendship, changes of scenery and, of course, a delicious assault on the senses.
Patrick was our tour guide. My wife and I walked away not sure there's more intelligent, humble and gregarious wine lover on the planet; a Brit by raising and Frenchman ever since, Patrick is as rare as an affordable bottle of Romanee-Conti Grand Cru. Try his knowledge--from the terroir of the vineyards to literature to the interesting history of the Citroen "deux chevaux"--and you'll think, "Who needs Google?" Even what should have been bumps in the road--first, the last-minute cancellation of one of the tasting venues, and the second, and unexpected 5k blocking the access roads--Patrick handled with a James Bond-ish sprezzatura, the former by seamlessly setting up an alternative tasting in the center of Beaune, and the latter with humor and stories to pass the time. He is just the right blend of being down-to-earth and didactic at the same time. My wife and I are definitely not connoisseurs; nor are we total grape juice noobs, but, like most people, lie somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. Patrick was able to assess each couple's acuity and adjust accordingly and comfortably.
The sightseeing, three tastings and lunch (at the beautifully cozy Bord de l'Eau) were exactly what the other reviews have said, a splendid taste of the region's best. Book this trip on your first full day in Burgundy, and spend the rest of your time in the region well-informed and oriented.

Yes they are, and we unfortunately do not offer tours on a Sunday for that reason in that we feel we are unable to consistently offer the quality and variation of visits we require for our clients on a Sunday. Hope this helps. Best wishes Robert

We concentrate our tours on the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits, with occasional incorporation of the Hautes Côtes and Côte Chalonnaise.
All of these areas specialize in high quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Beaune would be a good place to locate yourselves for the vineyards and any wine tours.
We currently have good availability for October 19.
Full details of our tours can be found on our website where you can also find an electronic response form for further enquiries and reservations.

Do you have availability for the " Premier one day tour" or the "Grand Premier one day tour" on Nov 9th or 10th (10th being preferred option)? What is the difference between the 2 tours? The difference between the Premier tour and the Grand Premier tour is the level of wine appellations tasted during the day with the latter placing greater emphasis upon Premier Cru and the inclusion of Grand Cru.

My husband and I are traveling with our son aged 11 and daughter aged 7. We would dearly love to do a day of wine tasting and while our children may not participate in the tasting itself, they would be interesting as we would in learning about the process of growing and aging the grape until it blossoms into its various forms of burgundy.
Would you or would you know of a reputable and passionate guide who could impart knowledge and viticultural joy to a family of four?

Hi. Thank you for your interest in Burgundy Discovery and your enquiry through Trip Advisor. Unfortunately all our operating tours on Saturday 29th June are already fully booked so we are unable to offer you a tour on this date. To get from Chablis to Beaune will take around 1.25 hours by car. Public transport is not a practical option particularly on a weekend. You could hire a car and driver for the day, but may be better considering staying in Beaune the night before and taking the opportunity to explore the beautiful medieval town.
