During the reign of Louis XII, Pierre de Valence, a professional fountain builder, was commissioned to provide Blois with a new water supply, replacing the 13th-century fountain. The new fountain bore the town's coat of arms and Gothic decoration. The buildings next to the fountain have since been demolished but the fountain is still in its original location. The Place Louis XII is full of cafe culture spots, so the fountain is just a historical focus for the area. We had already eaten, so we did not need to try any of the eateries, but it seemed like a good place to go. The wide steps on one side lead up to the Royal Chateau of Blois.…

A picturesque square in the expensive part of central Blois. Mostly pedestrianised and has several pavement cafes.

Old fountain built during the reign of King Louis XII of France, hence its name. The fountain was restaured in recent years, so it looks really nice and it is placed in Louis XII Square which has lots of good restaurants.
