The church is lovely. Even though it is small and more simple. It has character and it has a very peaceful feeling. I enjoyed my visit and found it very good it its more humble/real manner.

In a hot day it's all you need.Gothic Romanesque church built in the 12th century
Jun 2019
We were a group of nine biking around the Val de Loire. Blois was our stop after some 15 km in a very hot day. The Eglise Saint-Nicolas was right there and the temperature inside was so welcoming. We spent half an hour there, very peaceful place, not a lot to see but the high and thick walls were impressing. The columns outside holds the building structure indicate how old it was.Saint-Nicolas is a Gothic Romanesque church built in the 12th century, incredible engineering. Worth a visit.

Modern stained glass
Oct 2019
Lovely church which is quite dark inside but this does help to show off the stained glass, which is very modern and I find this is never in keeping with an old building. Very peaceful and calm inside and can be found on the BellesEglises app which gives information and location on French churches and cathedrals.

A very austere church. Very modern stained glass windows. Nearby no paintings, statues. A bit on the full side.

Love these Old church's
Aug 2019 • Couples
Visiting this old church was a nice addition to our walk around the town. Peaceful inside with not a large amount of furniture. Enjoyed learning about the history of the church.

Very nice Romanesque Cathedral
Aug 2018 • Family
Eglise Saint-Nicolas is one of the churches located in Blois, a city in Loire Region, in France. It was built in 12th Century in Romanesque-style. It is very beautiful: I recommend you enter in the church, if you walk in the surroundings. Very nice for adults and children.

Impressive

Much more obscure than the cathedral, this church is however really impressive, from outside but also inside. My preferred one in town :)

ANOTHER CHURCH SCARRED BY WAR & REVOLUTION
Apr 2018 • Couples
Thought Eglise Saint-Nicolas, was way more beautiful than Blois Cathedral and felt a little sad after visiting, as this once grand church, seems desperately in need of restoration. It is remarkable what this building has endured over the centuries, with wars and revolution, yet it is still standing. It is listed as a Monument Historique.

The Benedictine Monks started building Saint Laumer, an abbey and church in 1138, with the first phase of construction completed in 1186, at this time the relics of Saint Laumer were transferred to the church. The next phase from 1210-1218 sees the bulk of the church completed, additional chapels were built in the 13th and 14th centuries. During the 16th century with the War of Religion, the abbey and church were destroyed. Rebuilding started early 17th century and continued until the 18th century. In 1791 the monks left the abbey and the church was renamed Saint-Nicolas, in memory of a nearby church, which had been destroyed. With the French Revolution, the abbey is turned into a hospital and named Hôtel-Dieu in 1796. Building of abbey and church took place again, from the mid to the end of 19th century. Come WWII, the stained glass windows were destroyed in the June 1940 bombings, these were replaced in the 1950’s.

Take the time to visit this lovely church, it is located at the end of Rue Saint-Laumer, on Place Saint-Laumer. The area is lovely to walk around, especially down Rue Saint Lubin, Rue des Trois Marchands and Rue Robert Houdin, there are some great old timber framed houses in these streets.

Beautiful modern stained glass windows
Aug 2018 • Solo
Situated in a quiet location close to the river in close proximity to the adjacent medieval residential buildings. The Church gargoyles although mainly replicas are very interesting. The only original gargoyle located on the main facade above the window-rose was restored in the XVII century.
The stained glass Windows of the Church are modern works, very colourful and vibrant.

BEAUTIFUL FACADE
Jun 2017 • Friends
Located right in the center of Blois. It looks astonishing from outside, with a beautiful gothic façade. So many architectural details to appreciate just standing in front when arriving to the church. Beautiful stained glass windows. Wooden chairs, no benches. Not too many details and a few visitors, a little abandoned, but a nice visit while in Blois.
