This is a medieval town with people still living in the buildings. They do have electricity. The streets are very narrow. Every now and then we would be surprised by a car coming down the street. The streets are barely wide enough for one car!

We really were blown away by the amount of detail and artistry displayed by a self taught "graveyard sweeper". Using 'found' bits of ceramics, tile and glass he created this marvelous work of art over a 30 year period. His neighbors called him a "plate scrounger" because he was always looking in the dumps for broken pieces of pottery or... More

This place was one of the highlights of this and any other of the many trips I have taken to France. I almost, selfishly, don't want to rave about it as part of it's magic was how "secreted" it felt. It does take a bit of an effort to seek it out and it's a bit of a walk from... More

Don't stand still you may get tiled. One mans obsession lives on as a quirky place to visit. Everything is mosaic. We visited in September 2016 and it was 5:60 euro per adult and spent about 90 minutes there.

Just a short walk from the centre of Chartres La Maison Picassiette is worth seeing for sure. It's an odd little tourist attraction / work of art. The detail and imagination behind the work is truly impressive, and the little garden is delightful. It won't take you long to walk around and see everything, no more than 20-30 minutes, if... More

Make sure you don't miss this when you come to Chartres--it is well worth the detour (not located in city center). It's not big, true, but goodness, how could it be with the amount of work that it must have taken just to create it? It's so detailed that it's almost hard to take it all in, honestly. The entrance... More

It is incredible to see this house and all the mosaics. Very inspiring if one is craft oriented and talented. A different place.

Nice place with tessalated houses situated on the outskirts of the city of Chartres. Considering the small are, price for visiting is quiete high. Pěkné místo v mozaikovými domy na okraji města Chartres. Vzhledem k malé rozloze je cena celkem vysoká.

A little bit of a walk from the main part of town but well worth it. The walk is nice with great views of the old town/cathedral from the cemetery. Walk along the river for as much of the trip as possible. Maison picassiette is an incredible celebration of mosaics- all over a cottage and charming garden. Unique
