Spectacular chateau.

The grounds of this chateau are really beautiful for a stroll around and the buildings are so regal, it's like being in another world.

Like many tourists to the chateaux region of the Loire, we saw that this was a must see. We were unprepared for the gardens -- this is a must see! We did not go into the chateau, but wandered for several hours in the different garden areas. The most amazing thing I saw were the apple trees at knee height,... More

Gorgeous gardens and the internal exhibitions also interesting. Really, however, it is all about the gardens. Have to be seen to be believed. The Red Queen would be right at home.

The castle is beautiful, stile rinascimento, but inside you will discover history and a very pleasant home. The gardens and the lake are a place for meditation. Do not miss the salad in the restaurant - it is excellent! There is even a little shop for gardening, and a one for souvenirs. A place where you can see and feel... More

By the time I got to this Château I was done walking through them. I was ready to pay the full price just to walk these grounds, but they had a reduced price for those who just want to tour the grounds. Wish more Châteaus had the same deal! Highly recommend touring the grounds of this Château.

Earlier on this same trip we walked through parts of the Tuilleries and Luxembourg gardens in Paris, but our tour of Villandry’s gardens was truly memorable. Its expanse, the variety of flowers & shrubs, the layout, and maintenance were very impressive. We didn’t visit the chateau as we were going to 3 in Amboise & further east so cannot comment... More

So this review is a bit tempered. We did not go inside the buildings... at all. They seemed very impressive, but honestly, this was our 4th chateau and... I mean... there is only so much old furniture you can see. But the exterior? My goodness. Just amazing. The gardens are the most impressive that I saw in France. Well worth... More

The gardens are drop-dead gorgeous! They are cared for by a team of 12 gardeners who are allowed to take the produce for their own use. Nice job perk! This is a must stop in the Loire Valley!

We only visited the gardens of the Chateau---not the house itself. Even though it was late in the season, the gardens were lovely (they were just beginning to clear the summer flowers from the beds). In all there are six types of gardens, and each of them is impressive. If one is in the area, this should be considered a... More
