Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The whole area was fenced off in January and we had to go in the side door. This town is working very hard to make everything better. This church is a bit different than the others. Check out the Office of tourism I-pad tour before you go and you’ll enjoy it more.

A beautiful church with a gorgeous medieval-looking central chandelier, wedding preparations were underway during our visit. A gospel group was practicing and seats were being decorated. The church has a serenity (notwithstanding wedding music) and peaceful beauty that is worth the visit. We also went next door to the museum - again, interesting, quiet, tranquil.

Located a short drive from the centre ville (or a 20 minute amble), this basilica is well worth the visit. An astoundingly beautiful edifice with a vast interior which transports you back through the centuries. For a 21st century mind, it is well nigh impossible to comprehend the time, effort and devotion it would have taken to design and create this stunning structure. The basilica was traditionally the starting point for the coronation ceremony of the king of France . A procession led by the bishop would set out from here to transport the king and his entourage the mile or so to Notre Dame de Reims. Wonderful history !!!

Don't miss seeing this when you are in the city. It is not as grand looking as the Notre-Dame but the history here is just as amazing and important.
As a note though when we went we thought it was closed and walked all around the back and then around again and realized the entrance was on the side and you had to try the door.....to be honest, it looked closed and no one was around.

Saint Remi is the oldest church in Reims, romanesque and gothic and it's as big as Notre Dame in Paris. The tomb of St Remi is at this church. It's very close to several champagne houses, just behind Martel Champagne. It is definitely a great house of worship to visit.

Our “Gothic” trip was planned over several months and did not originally include this treasure. Only a mile walk over level ground, it is easy to find and “off the beaten path” compared to the more famous gothic cathedrals.
We spent nearly an hour exploring and enjoying the inside - most of the time completely alone.
Enjoy!

The Basilica was an unexpected part of our day trip to Reims. Like the Cathedral, the Basilica is very pretty and has an interesting and long history.

I actually thought Saint-Remi was more beautiful and interesting than Notre-Dame in Reims.
We spent more time here - it really spoke to us. Almost no one there, very still. Lots to absorb. We did put 2 Euros in to light up the church and it was definitely worth it, as we could see in our photos.
Please don't miss this gem. BTW, despite work right next to the church, I thought the signage was adequate to find the entrance and there is plenty of (free) parking around, if you can't find a space in the parking lot nearest the church.

This church is smaller than some, but it is just beautiful. St. Remi dies in 533 and was buried here. It takes a while to wrap your head around that date. He lived to be 96. Visit the museum next door and see the tapestries that show tales of his life. Wow.

We would like to visit the Basilique of Saint Remy on 22 or 23 february 2019. Will it be open than for tourists?

No the bells chime on the hour for the time then at 2 minutes past the hour they chime again with the same number of chimes as on the hour. Just wondering if there was a reason for this?
