Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Gare De Austerlitz is one of the many stations in Paris that will take you to the local area. There are also trains further afield.
There are connections to the Metro and I would suggest checking out line 5 which takes you through the station. Worth checking out if you like things a bit unusual.
There are aslo RER services on line C to a variety of different destinations including Champ Des Mars where you can admire the Eiffel Tower.
I visited in November 2022 and at this time the trains on the RER were not stopping at St Michel for Notre Dame. This is also a connection for RER line B so be aware!

Still going through a major revamp and chaos reigned. The ticket office was closed and it was i9mpossiblew to get any information. Fortunately, it was a warm, dry day so people were able to wait outside, had it been raining or cold it would have been awful.

Please note that at the time of our stopover in mid October 2024, there were NO sit-down restaurants or cafe. So, if you need a proper meal and can have it somewhere else, best that you do it before you go to the station to board the train.
There are many snacks and drinks vending machines. Also a Relay and Boulangerie Dore and as you may expect, prices are much higher at the station, especially the latter.
Also, be careful with the cold baguette sandwiches. I had the tuna baguette sandwich and "broke" the filling between my 2 front tooth! (Not something I yearn for Christmas)
Appreciated the comfortable enough waiting lounge and clean toilets (for 1 euro).

That’s it, I understand!
The SNCF is in chronic deficit, it is not because of the toilets; 1 euro access for mediocre quality!
It may be because of the work, it must have been 10 years since it started, or perhaps the absence of services; nowhere to have refreshments, or to relax while waiting for your train
Long live monopolies and too bad for tourists or travelers forced to burden themselves with these non-services
The ticket has not decreased, it must be proportional to the days of strikes and work!

I arrived by RER C , I never come by transport, I was tired because I had to say goodbye to my grandmother for the last time. I don't take transport. My ticket did not open the gate I had to put the second ticket.out I asked for help at the ticket counter. Woman c is pissed off I said I stay here until she finds me a solution I come to her for help she screams c is hasty to yell and close the ticket office despite me and the other customers. Being customer-facing is his job to help too. If in her life she needs help I dare hope that karma will come to her. It is not correct to react as she did. Moreover to take the metro with its works is an ordeal. So yes there are people in purple but not all speak in English for our tourists. The station becomes large and unlivable when you are going a lot in the same direction. Endless work. I will hold the kindness of this lady as I came to her for help. Tourists and people who do not take transport we are not aware that there is an emergency button. Have not been used.di coup to finish this text I am asked to buy thank you hidalgo and the city of Paris that they want to line their pockets. Not even a sav a need desk on such a large Parisian resort named Austerlitz. Do not stop there and pay attention to yourself.

Terrible place, the construction is STILL going on, which makes the station a giant maze. The ticket machines declined my card and I had to go to the ticket office. Took me an eternity to find it. Staff is professional but typical French, no smiles ;)
The coffee they sold was good, that made it a little bit better.

Taking RER or metro from here is fine. For buses it’s not so convenient as the buses depart away from the main station. Inside there were ‘t any particularly interesting shops. I’ve been to better places, I’ve also been to much worse. Overall, it was OK.

I often come to Austerlitz in the three years I have been here, there is always some sort of major refurbishment going on. Its not traveller friendly at all, the new toilets although ultra clean and new with an 80 centime entry charge are a nightmare to navigate through turnstiles with cases. The warm lounge is tiny and inadequate for the amount of train travelling public. There are not many places to get warm at all. It's just everything is all over the place, no cohesion and refurbishment taking too long. I look forward to the day its completed.

We arrived and left Paris at this station. Seems to be going through a major work of refurbishment. We found it chaotic and the signs were only just suitable
No staff around to help and the info office was closed! A Thursday at 11am and it’s closed

Hello
I am reaching Orly Airport (Paris) at 10:30 Am on 30 Nov 18. It would be a Friday.
What is the average time from landing time to check out from the airport and reach the metro station connecting to Austerlitz Gare in Paris?
We have a train scheduled to leave at 12:47 Am from Gare D Austerlitz. Do you think we can catch it? Do the train in France depart 10 minutes later from their schedule time. In Italy trains usually do that.
Thank you

Is this the gare from which 3 of us take to travel to Limoges? What is best way to get here from arriving flights (1Air France, 2American Airlines) at CDG airport? Are best times to travel to Limoges early morning, how do travel time, rates, accessibility differ? (1 senior among us, difficult to 'run' to catch a train!) If best to stay a night in Paris (late arriving flights, long lines and waits to go through customs, difficulty finding each other and train station at CDG airport, etc.), is nearby area safe for hotel, dinner, then easy navigation for early morning train travel to Limoges area? Walk? Taxi? Is it best to pre-purchase train fares? Are train fares transferable or refundable, in case flights are late, or we are stuck at customs, etc? I speak a little French, other 2 travelers do not.
