About
The Musée Picasso is located in the Hôtel Salé, one of the most beautiful 17th century private mansions in Paris. The Musée Picasso collection comprises over 5,000 works and tens of thousands of archived pieces. For its quality and scope as well as the range of art forms it encompasses, this collection is the only one in the world to present both Picasso’s complete painted, sculpted, engraved and illustrated œuvre and a precise record of the artist’s creative process.

Musee Picasso is a must see adventure.
The collection at the Musee is incredible. It was my second time at the museum - the first time was several years ago. I spent about 3 hours at the collection this time and could have spent more time but had to be somewhere else. I learned so much about Picasso and his talent. It is well worth the visit.
Dear visitor, Thank you very much for your visit and for leaving a review. We are most delighted to hear that you enjoyed spending so much time in the Musée national Picasso-Paris and we hope to welcome you again soon. Best regards,

Choice Picasso works in the Marais
The museum is not huge, despite the collection they have. All the galleries are on the lower level. The current exhibit included paintings and sculptures, as well as sketches and watercolor studies. Beautifully curated but the exhibit is not extensive -- it seems that they select works and rotate them. Much of the space in the historic mansion is not utilized for exhibition. There is a lovely courtyard garden, only accessible via the museum.
Hello! We would like to thank you for your comment. The top floors of the museums are currently closed in preparation for a new exhibition that opens on the 3rd of October. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the exhibiton "La Collection. Oeuvres choisies." as well as the different areas of the museum! Looking forward to welcoming you again to the Musée national Picasso-Paris.

Most floors are closed for hanging
Have seen better in Spain . But if you’re here in Paris as tourist visit . Only one floor is open with paintings and sculptures . Very disappointing above floors closed . The floors above have notice saying closed for handing . If you decide to go you may not wait long buying ticket so no need to book in advance as I did . A lovely street to walk to with cafes and some boutique shops .
Dear visitor, Thank you for your comment. We are sorry to hear of your disappointment. As mentionned on our website, the upper floors are closed in preparation for our upcoming exhibition which opens the 3rd of October. On this occasion, we look forward to welcoming you back to the Musée Picasso.

A nice museum, but it was mostly his later works
I quite enjoyed this museum. Unfortunately the ground floor galleries were closed the day I went, there wasn't any reason given so I don't know if that's a regular event. I guess those rooms would have contained some of his earlier work as the parts I saw were only really from his cubist period and later, and in truth for me it became a little bit samey after a while. The stand out for me was the Portrait of Dora Maar. There are nice places to sit provided so you can really take your time and it wasn't very busy when I went.
Dear visitor, Thank you for your comment. We are sorry to hear about your disappointement. As mentionned on our website, the upper floors are closed in preparation for our upcoming exhibition which opens on the 3rd of October. Through more than seventy works, the current exhibition highlights his beginnings, from Cubism to the 1960s, as well as the cross-cutting themes in his work. For your information, next spring, the Musée Picasso will be presenting a permanent display of its collection wihich will feature many more emblematic masterpieces of Picasso. On this occasion, we look forward to welcoming you back to the Musée Picasso.

Wonderful art, superbly curated. Signage is superb.
The museum has four floors and when we were there the first floor was a comprehensive exhibit of Picasso's works, the remaining part of the museum was devoted to an exhibition of the French performance artist, Sophie Calle. The Picasso exhibition is superb... walking through the space is quite easy and the curatorship, offering a variety of his media and a sense of this chronology, was excellent. A very enjoyable museum experience. There are several Picasso masterpieces here and anyone interested in his work should pay a visit, especially next year (2024) when all four floors will be devoted to Picasso's work.
Dear visitor, Thank you for sharing your positive experience at the museum ! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed Picasso's exhibition. We look forward to welcoming you back for an even more immersive exploration of Picasso's masterpieces next spring ! Sincerely, Le Musée national Picasso-Paris

Musee Picasso is a nice alternative to the more touristy museums in Paris.
This museum is a little off the beaten path, not at all touristy as far as museums go. The building is beautiful and is in a cool area of Paris with lots of nice shops and cafes. The cafe in the Museum is also very good, especially if the weather is nice. You can sit outside. The only bad thing was the Wifi was not available at all, and our tickets were on our phones. The very nice person at the door found a way to get them from her phone, but we could not access any of the online information about the museum while we were there.
Dear visitor, Thank you for taking the time to share your positive experience at the museum. We are delighted to hear that you appreciated the location, as well as the beautiful building and the café of our museum. Your feedback about the WiFi is duly noted, and we apologize for any inconvenience you experienced. We are actively working to improve our connectivity services to ensure a seamless experience for our visitors, including easy access to online information during their visit. We hope to welcome you back soon for another enjoyable exploration of Picasso's masterpieces. Best regards, Le Musée national Picasso-Paris

Sophie Calle soars at Picasso Museum
Sophie Calle has taken over the Picasso Museum and the result is remarkable. She has shown a deep understanding and thoughtful interpretation of Picasso's work while making the exhibit clearly about her talent and impact on the art scene. From the wrapped canvases, to the re-interpreted Guernica it is a stand out exihibit.
Thank you very much for your comment. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed Sophie Calle's exhibition and we look forward to welcoming you again soon! All the best, The Musée national Picasso-Paris

    Fantastic and Relaxing
A Parisian friend of mine recommended visiting this museum in lieu of the madness at the more famous museums. It goes without saying that the building is Magnificent, it is France I would expect no less. Everything is beautiful. We came to see Picasso and ended up entranced with the Sophie Callie exhibit and forgot we came there to see Picasso. I’m glad I had to go to the bathroom, we would’ve left and never seen the Picasso Exhibit, which is on the lower (restroom) level. The ladies room doors are a bit, stiff, push hard. I really enjoyed being able to relax and really look at the exhibit. This is a museum well worth coming to because you get to breathe and have some space to enjoy and take in the experience. Just remember you came here for Picasso. We used our translator App but the audio option provided by the Musee probably would have been better and more informative. Did not expect to be so entranced with Exhibit.
Dear visitor, We are delighted to hear that you had a positive experience at our museum! It's fantastic to hear that you were impressed by the magnificence of the building and that you found the Sophie Calle exhibit captivating. We are sorry to hear about the inconvenience with the restroom doors; we are taking your feedback into consideration to improve. Our goal is to create a relaxing and immersive experience for all our visitors, and I'm happy to hear that you were able to enjoy the exhibit at your own pace. Thank you for your kind words about the museum, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon. If you do return, don't forget to take advantage of the audio option provided by the museum for a more informative experience. Best regards,

    Wonderful Experience!
Fantastic Experience with an entire floor of Picasso art. I’m not sure why there are so many negative reviews. The collection on display was wonderful. Examples of all types of media were present. Some of his most famous and spectacular paintings were there too! I’m so glad I didn’t let the negative reviews keep me from visiting!
Dear visitor, We would like to thank you for sharing your wonderful experience. We are thrilled to hear that you thoroughly enjoyed the Picasso art on display at our museum. We appreciate you not letting the negative reviews deter you from visiting and are delighted that you had such a fantastic time exploring our exhibits. We hope to welcome you back for the permanente collection currently on display at the museum. Sincerely, The Musée national Picasso-Paris

    Go for the building too
Lovely building housing picasso. Really enjoyed seeing lesser known works and mediums. Curation was hard to follow though. Maybe needed the audio guide. Some things i wanted to see were hard to find because there are no good maps of the collection. Very fun visit.
Dear visitors, We would like to thank you for your comment. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the unique architecture of the building and Picasso's lesser-known works and mediums during your visit. We are sorry that the maps of the museum are not yet available yet. We hope to welcome you back again in the future !

Avoid completely. This museum has been gutted and unless there is a temporary exhibition, there are approximately 10 works of art to see by Picasso. They still charge 11€ regardless and dont say anything about the fact that there is not much to see. They show plenty of family photos and videos of the artist but no works of art practically. Very disappointing. Furthermore, they charge 4€ for an audio guide with very few commentaries of interest. A typical French scam. Naturally the employees are aware but don’t say anything and dont offer refunds

This is the third time I have visited the Picasso museum and each time I am hoping it will get better and now after the third time I will never go back. Each time a significant portion of the museum was closed and each time the displays were poorly curated.

The museum was supposed to be a reflection of Picasso and his interest in literature. One of the displays included paperback books by other authors that had Picasso Art on the book cover. I guess you could argue that was Picasso’s influence on the world of literature and the editors choice of a book cover but I just thought it was more like what an eighth grader would do if they were a curator.

I am done with the Picasso museum forever and will never go back. The third time truly is in this case a lack of charm.

This was an impressive museum designed in a mansion where the architecture is as incredible as the great master's art! We were fortunate to visit at the time when American sculpture Alexander Calder's work was also on display.
We explored the entire museum in spite of the fact my 6 year old (now 7) was only mildly interested. We had already seen many museums this being the 8th day of our 14 day trip. He was a trooper and even though I didn't get to linger on each work as I would normally, I did get lots of pictures so I can study them whenever I want!!

I was really disappointed with this museum. There were far too few significant works by Picasso on display. Of the hand few of impressive works two of them were significantly damaged. I may be spoiled, but I have seen much better collections of Picasso's works displayed in the general modern art museums in the US. Plus, If you have been to the Picasso Museum in Barcelona, you will be disappointed with this one.

Currently, the museum has a joint exhibit of Rodin and Picasso. The Rodin works are impressive, but too many of the Picasso works seem to be from an elder Picasso who seemed to feel that any thing he threw together would be a work of genius.

The underwhelming works displayed at the museum especially pale when compared to the treasures down the Seine at the D'Orsay, L'Orangerie and the Marmottan. For the same entrance fee as the Picasso Museum, those museums are utterly stunning. Room after room of world class works.

Especially notable at those museums are the later works of Monet painted when he was in his seventies and eighties. At that age he was still inventive and creating art that foreshadowed Western art for the next half century.

There's so much art to see in Paris. I suggest that you skip this museum if you're on the fence.

I stepped in as part of Rick Steves "Marais Walk" (in his 'Paris' guidebook - highly recommended). I'm not exactly a huge fan of the weird Picasso style (I am totally a realist), but the museum has many of his paintings and other works and it is laid out conveniently for visitors. It is obvious the layout is done with a lot of love and respect for the Artist and his work. There was a combo exhibition with Alexander Calder when I was there and they did a great job of displaying similar works for us to compare the styles and subject matters, it flowed together perfectly.

Rip off!!! Worst museum experience I have ever had

Two out of Four floors are closed.. very few Picasso pieces in the museum. This is not made clear on the museum website when you purchase your ticket. Only found out when we were in the exhibition.

They offer a 2 euro discount which is an insult. Very disappointing and will not be going back or recommending that anyone go to this museum. Terrible customer service

Very disappointing, and, actually, it made us quite mad. We wish we would have read the reviews first. We are both artists and we were shocked at how badly this was curated. Two floors closed. If you know both artists work this will take you less than 45 minutes. We came all the way from Oregon for this show. Really? What’s the point of mixing the two artists? You can go to the Rodin museum on its own which is fabulous and there is a much better overview of his work— it makes no sense. This is the Picasso museum, hello, where are the Picasso’s? Even the gift shop was disappointing. It was suddenly pouring rain and no umbrellas for sale. I would have loved a Picasso umbrella as a souvenir. Two $40 cab rides to get there, what a shame. If you are an experienced museum goer, don’t waste your time.

We visited Muse Picasso in the past we loved a rich collection of his work. However, I am very disappointed that more than the half of the museum (1st and 2 floor) were closed today. This represents more than the half of the museum and there is no notice on the website when you purchase tickets. They still charge full price for a very modest display of Picasso’s work. His work is displayed only in the basement, while ground floor has a mix of many other artists. We felt that we were cheated of the time and money. We waisted half a day for close to nothing.

Dear visitor, We regret the disappointment you experienced during your recent visit. We want to clarify that the closure of more than half of the museum's floors was due to the rehanging of the permanent collection, which has just reopened. This information was communicated on our website at the time of ticket purchase and by our reception staff. We understand your frustration with the modest display of Picasso's work and the mix of other artists on the ground floor. We hope you will consider visiting us again to fully enjoy the newly reopened permanent collection and other exhibitions. Sincerely, Le Musée national Picasso-Paris

Musee Picasso used to be a favourite museum of ours. Sadly since their renovation, they have seemingly decided to keep their most interesting pieces in storage. Instead what we get is a succession of disappointing temporary exhibitions.
Most visitors want to see the highlights of the museum's collections rather than exclusively an ever changing set of second-rate works.
The justification for the Rodin-Picasso exhibition itself is rather unconvincing: both of them experimented, Picasso was familiar with Rodin's work... not exactly groundbreaking, is it? It all seems rather superficial and sophomoric.

Musee Picasso should be a Paris highlight for any art lover but our visit was disappointing. After we paid the Euro 7 fee and entered we discovered that two of the floors were closed “for re-hanging.” What remained was a somewhat spartan collection of Picasso’s work. There were, of course, interesting works but we have seen far better in other galleries.

Dear visitor, We are sincerely sorry to hear of your disappointment. Until the opening of our next exhibition, on the 3rd of October, the upper floors are closed in preparation. Please note that a reduced rate of 7€ instead of 14€ applies during this period, due to the closure of the floors 1 through 3. The current exhibition "La collection. Œuvres Choisies" is a temporary exhibition that features over 70 works by Picasso, with a selection of masterpieces, including paintings, sculptures, drawings and ceramics, among the most emblematic in the collection. For your information, next spring, the Musée Picasso will present a permanent hang of its collection with many more masterpieces of Picasso. On this occasion, we look forward to welcoming you back to the Musée Picasso.
