Salvador Dali, the master of surrealism in Paris!

Espace Dali, located in the heart of the famous artists' village, Montmartre, exhibits the largest collection of artworks by Salvador Dali in France.

Dali as you have never seen before!

The collection is the fruit of the emblematic surrealist artist's extravagant inspiration: theatrical sculptures, erotic, dreamlike or irresistibly humorous engravings, poetic objects and furniture, are all part of the phantasmagorical universe of the inventor of soft watches.

The multiple facets of the Catalan Master

3D Surrealism

Thanks to Dali, everything can be transformed by the magic of dreams: the Space Elephant with spindly legs seems to defy gravity, a watch melts from a branch, a snail spreads its wings and Venus has drawers.

Stories and wonders

Dali had an encyclopedic culture and was fascinated by major themes from literature, mythology and religion. He used many different techniques to illustrate universal texts: Alice in Wonderland, Romeo and Juliet, Don Quixote, The Bible... As well as more personal works, such as Moses and Monotheism or The Alchemy of the Philosophers.

Each book is an art object.

Sculptures, drawings, water colors, engravings, lithographs, Espace Dali invites us to explore the main themes of his work: dreams, mythology, sensuality...

The museum is quite small which is a great advantage as it doesn't take too long to visit it. It is interesting for all ages, I went with my young cousins and grandparents and we all enjoyed the museum. It is definitely worth to visit and explore. Moreover that neighbourhood is artistic and lovely! The only challenging aspect of the... More

Get ready to be mesmerized by Dali's exquisite work of art. Melting clock is my favorite piece not to give away too much info on his work. Get swept away in each beautiful piece. Certainly worth a visit. You would need about an hour.

OK, I am going you stick my neck right out there and say that I really liked it! It was whimsical and fun. I don't pretend to understand modern art but I am curious and love to learn. Contrary to the Picasso museum (interesting and worth the visit, but it doesn't move me in any particle way) something about Dali's... More

This is not a real museum, but it is advertized as such... For me it was a disappointing experience.

Displays lots of Dali Concept art. Most pieces are authenticated by the Dali estate as being made from his conception. Nearly all are realized after his death. This is a private for profit museum that displays a few of his drawings and has art inspired by Dali by other artists. In the end their is a room where you can... More

Dear Simon T, Thanks for visiting our exhbition and taking the time to leave a comment. Espace Dali's collection is the largest private collection of original artworks by Salvador Dali in France. Each artwork is numered, signed by the artist, and presented in the Catalogue Raisonné printed by the expert Mr Descharnes. As for the date of their production, each... More

I have been to the Dali museum in Florida and I guess after that experience nothing will compare, but this was a disappointment. My first impression was that of a cramped gift shop and a slight annoyance at the poor layout and explanation of what this place was. Thankfully Sacre Coeur was close by otherwise the crazy stairs up would... More

I was pleasantly surprised! I suppose my expectations were low because of all the poor reviews, but I'm a big Dali fan, so I had to stop in. I was happy initially because the price is slightly lower if you are under 26, and also because the museum is so quiet. Compared to other Parisian museums which are so crowded... More

Staying in Montmartre

Neighbourhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
