Located in the 9th district or opera district. Walked around here in September 2013. Beautiful gold embossed building. Were scheduled to see a ballet, but didn't realize that our vouchers weren't tickets that we'd received at time of booking. Anyway very beautiful building. There are lots of shops and restaurants nearby and a metro station right in front of the... More

This was a surprising favorite stop during our weekend in Paris. It was indescribably ornate. Highly recommend

This is truly the jewel in Paris. It is a spectacle to behold and is expertly and brilliantly built and sculpted. It is definitely worth taking the time to come and see this building. They do offer tours in English on some days at specific times.

I attended an opera at this old but fantastic opera house, with excellent acoustics. this encouraged me to buy a book about the history and architecture of this fantastic opera house. The fantastic stairs stuns you. you need to choose a good place, so as to be able to see the stage, because there are columns which might cover the... More

The building itself is something else - beautiful, impeccably maintained and very comfortable. The theater is impressive, as the pictures show, and the presentation was excellent. It's not cheap nor easy to buy (you need to buy it as soon as the tickets go on sale or you risk not getting yours)

We had tickets for a performance and we took the time to wander around beforehand. It is absolutely stunning! If you go to Paris then I would strongly suggest you take the time to visit here. Walking up the Grand Stairway and through the Grand Foyer made for a wonderfully romantic evening, capped by the performance of the string quartet... More

We had some time in between reservations so we decided to pop into this Opera House. This was a great way to fill our time- we did not do a guided tour so we were provided a map and we able to wander around at our own pace through the designated areas. Phantom of the Opera is one of our... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
