The present monument forms only a part of the former palace of the Capetian dynasty. Charles V ceased using the palace in the 14th century and decided to house his law courts here. The Concierge, or keeper, was appointed by the king and was...more

Absolutely nothing to see - it is empty and the interesting places are closed for the public. What is more the price is really suprising for this kind of disappointed.

We think this is an excellent choice to visit. Lots of history and really it puts it all together reference the French revolution etc. Yes the rooms are basically empty but that is only one part of the picture. I would buy the joint ticket...More

After visiting the Notre-Dame de Paris we wondered over to see the Conciergerie and Sainte Chappelle. Well, the Chappelle was nice but I would have regretted paying to visit the Conciergerie. Fortunately it is one of the many buildings, monuments, galleries and museums included in...More

Disclosure: visit was November 2016. I literally stumbled upon this while walking the streets of Paris. What is left of the 12th century medieval castle has been turned into the Palace of Justice, a defunct historical prison, and St. Chapelle (I will review separately). The...More

If you are interested in the French Revolution, the Conciergerie is definitely worth a stop. It provides a window into what prisoners experienced in the final weeks and days leading up to their inevitable trip to the guillotine. It's also an amazing old building.

Very interesting especially if you are into history and the French Revolution. The room with all the names of the prisoners and those executed was quite touching. I am glad we took the time to visit here. It brought the history I learned in school...More

Stumbled across this place on our way to Sainte Chappelle (it’s next door), entered as part of the Paris Pass. The building has lots of history associated with it but there is no original furniture etc left inside just an empty shell. Worth a visit...More

We bought tickets at the office, but we did not go in peak season. A wonderful and super interesting visit. This museum had a ton of information written on the walls and in videos playing. We learnt alot and this is where Marie Antoinette was...More

We bought our 2-day Museum Pass here - a good choice since we walked right in with no lines. Former prison and last stop for so many French victims of the guillotine. Can be toured quite quickly, and very close to Sainte-Chapelle and Notre Dame.

Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very
heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité,
sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of
Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the
site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held
before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic
Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the
Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island,

Take as little as you can. Paris is on high alert and so, my advice is, don't complicate your life by creating issues. Excess luggage is a point in focus here.

Sorry, I've only just seen your question so this is probably too late. The trip took us about an hour and a half. A lot of people also do the Sainte Chapelle, which together make for a very interesting few hours.
