The sweeping view from this cathedral is beautiful! It is very nice to visit the inside. The climb up to the rotunda is well worth it! We were glad we stopped here. We rode the tram up and back down the hill as there are many stairs to climb to get up to the Basilica.

Don't miss visiting the Basilica. Make sure you read the history of it's architecture and build-time before you go. Getting there is a bit of a hike, but you won't be disappointed. Not only do you get to go inside, but you can walk up to the upper levels too, and you can see the gargoyle sculptures up close. That... More

By starting your walk from one of the lower Montmartre metro stations you can enjoy a marvelous stroll up to the Bassilica and ponder many lunch spots to return to.

The place is very charming and the surrounding is a place for bohemian artists where you can have your own portrait . a lot of cafes and souvenir shops . you can enjoy up to 5 hours with small budget in Montmartre in addition to visiting the Sacre-Coeur.

I always thought this was as old as the Notre Dame - from the Middle ages - but its not. It was built after the Franco-Prussian War in 1871 to commemorate the 57,000 French Soldiers who died in the war. The names of all of them are read out aloud each day to this day. The stone is white which... More

The church was splendid. The surrounding gardens are worth seeing. The steps to the front of the church were worth the climb for the amazing view that offered. I would recommend seeing the church 100%.

The actual church is really average but the views of the city are stunning. Wasn't overly impressed with the actual church. Very lively neighborhood nearby

Stunning building. A real must but there must be several hundred steps to get up there !! There is a cheap cable car that gives you the views as well. No entry fee to basilica itself that is breath taking. Super views over paris if clear day. Lovely little square towards back of building with gorgeous restaurants..bars and artists working... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
