Took this tour in October 2013 and enjoyed thoroughly. I had to phone their office to find out where glaciere was because where my map ended it didn't show this district at all. The staff was very helpful and we figured out how I could get there from where I was staying near the Louvre. The tour was at Gerard... More

This 3-hour tour was a delightful afternoon walk through the charming Montmartre district, punctuated with tasting stops along the way. From historical patisseries to an Appellation Controllee boucherie (yes, meat/poultry controlled like wine), fromageries and a glass of champagne... And all explained by our two well-informed, highly entertaining guides Eve and Roberto. They made it extra special, so I would... More

My wife and I love bread and have manages to visit out some of the best boulangerie's in Paris...but never behind the counter, only as customers. So we were delighted to find this 1 hour tour. Le Grenier à Pain is one of the best traditional baguette (and other breads and pastries) bakers in the city so meeting the baker... More

Caroline was wonderful! She was very knowledgeable and it was like taking a walk with a friend! She had arranged nice shops to visit and nice tour of the market. Even picked up a beautiful scarf at the market. We had cheese, sausage, foie gras and some beautiful wine! The wine merchant was very knowledgeable also. We had skipped breakfast... More

We booked our tour through Viator for this tour. We had the most engaging, wonderful tour with PJ. If you do this, ask for him specifically. He was the best. I wish I could contact him and thank him again. The tour was about 3.5 hours and walked all around Montmartre. PJ took us to authentic butcher shops, wine shops,... More

Christine is an amazing guide. She blends in visits to incredible shops offering the very best in chocolates, pastries, breads and of course the famous hot chocolate with background on the history and accreditation system. We went a full hour and a half over the scheduled time because we had questions and were fascinated with the pride each establishment takes... More

With Cedric, the tour guide, a Gourmet French Food Tour (booked via Viator Tours) through Paris’s Montmartre district is a saunter not just in and out of top-notch French pastry shops, but also a trip through French history. Meeting at the Blanche metro station, Cedric warmly greeted me, and we started out on our adventure, despite our being a party... More

My granddaughter and I had the most wonderful time baking macaroons with Chef Marthe Brohan. We were a group of four, which was perfect for dividing the baking tasks. Chef Marthe had everything ready for us to start our baking experience. I can't wait to make these delicious treats with my granddaughert at home!

I went on a gourmet walking tour of the most beautiful and charming neighborhood of Paris - Montmartre. It was booked using Avios points and through the British Airways website! Louisa was my guide, and I couldn't have asked for a better person. She was friendly, warm, patient, and very knowledgeable about the area and the food we sampled. The... More

Staying in Montmartre

Neighbourhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
