Very convenient location, close (walking distance) to many wonderful attractions. A short walk to Notre Dame Cathedral, not far from the Picasso Museum a little longer walk to Louvre and D' Orsay. The train station is very close as well as the Batobus for hope...More

The Ile Saint-Louis is a great place as a base for Paris and environs visits. It's relatively quiet and devoid of tourist hordes, while close to area attractions and having nearby restaurants. Metro transportation is nearby, and getting to train stations is easy. For a...More

This is probably our single favorite spot in Paris, a quiet oasis between Ile de la Cite (and Notre Dame) and the Marais. We have a favorite spot we go to for an al fresco lunch in good weather, bringing a baguette, some cheese and...More

This is our favorite place to stay in Paris! Limited traffic, great restaurants, specialty shops and boutique hotels. Anytime of day is good to visit and its proximity to Notre Dame is an added bonus.

We didn’t spend much time here, mostly watched the street performer and walked along the Seine, then across the island. Quiet atmosphere compared to the rest of Paris.

Cutting the Seine into two, it is a nice island that houses ice cream and coffee shops, as well as nice clothes shops.

So much to see in this area, Notre Damme, St Chapelle, markets, cafes and more. Nice to see it from a boat at night when the main building are illuminated.

This is the classy island next to Ile de la Cite (the one with Notre Dame) and full of elegant and expensive homes and, for some reason, lots of ice-cream shops. There's a fun restaurant in a basement called Nos Ancetres les Gaulois. If nothing...More

The island is a popular area near Notre Dame but it is always a delight to walk the streets and stop for a crepe. Walk the length of Rue Saint Louis and get your fill of busy and somewhat touristy Paris. But go into the...More

After having brunch at the St Regis, we crossed the bridge over to the Ile Saint Louis, between right and left bank of the Seine River. Just a morning stroll in autumn, watching the doves and strollers, the houses in the middle of the island,...More

Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very
heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité,
sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of
Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the
site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held
before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic
Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the
Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island,

Ile Saint Luis is generally a no driving/no parking District. Avoid trying to drive there. Some parts may not be easily accessible by a person in a wheel chair.

I agree with one of the previous replies: think of the Ile St Louis as a terrific home base of operations. We loved dining at the St. Regis Cafe: we had a terrific french breakfast one morning and a traditional french dinner... More
