Quartier de l'Opera is in the heart of Paris and dominated by Palais Garnier. The whole district is quite a lovely area with many shops ranging from the famous and very expensive Galeries Lafayette and Printemps, to other smaller stores. We preferred to mostly wander around the streets and just enjoy whatever came our way.

The major landmark here is the Garnier Opera House, which is a must-see for its sumptuous design. It is surrounded with classic cafes, upscale hotels, and a litte further a couple of huge and beautiful department stores. Lots of restaurants to serve theater goers and others. The area is full of hotels of all sorts.

We rented an apartment in this area and liked for the convenience. Well served by the Metro, plus there are sites within walking distance, especially the beautiful Garnier Opera House. Big department stores, lots of restaurants and cafes, plus the largest concentration of hotels in the city.

This may be the center of tourism in Paris as the district is full of independent hotels. Also lots of department stores and historic theaters, including the opulent Opera, now home of the Ballet. Lots of history here and some great food. Wander around.

It was my first time in Paris. I took a bus from CDG airport into the city. I arrived behind the Opera House. The hotel was also on the Avenue de l'Opera, so the Opera district was the center of my activities. Galeries Lafayette is right behind the Opera House. I especially enjoyed the food hall. The Opera Metro station is right in front of me. There are many typical Parisian restaurants in the area. There were many Japanese restaurants on the left hand side heading towards the Seine River. It's a little different from the image of the Champs-Élysées, the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, etc., but it's a very convenient area to start your activities.

This is one of the neighborhoods that you will not want to miss. The Opera House is magnificent; take a tour or go to a performance. Lots of other classic theaters in the area. Some of the big department stores and lots of hotels. Lots of classic 19th Century architecture. Lots of good places to eat.

An area famous and probably named after the opera house in the area. Besides Opera Garnier, there’s galeries lafeyette, primtemps and the Apple store which we went. Lots of restaurants, cafes and other shops too

We rented an apartment in this area and loved it because of all the Metro lines and how easy it was to walk to many fun neighborhoods. You will find a lot of hotels and all the services that go with them, plus the big department stores. The opera house is exquisite; take a tour or go to a concert. And then walk up the hill into the 9th for atmosphere.

We rented an apartment in this quartier and were very happy here because of all of the dining choices from restaurants that were supported by the theater goers. And some good food shopping as well. If you want to shop seriously, there are the grand magasins. Very lively area, day and night.

What is the area like between Opera and Republic in Paris?
Written 8 March 2018
My son will be staying in Paris for a working project for 3 months, He has the following option for aparthotel:
Citadines Opera Paris
• Residhome Paris Opera
• Citadines Republique Paris
• Adagio Paris Opera
• Adagio Access Paris Villette
which would be the best area to stay?
He has been to Paris on tourism already, He would like a place close to supermarkets and public transport and of course, safe.
Any advise would be appreciated. The period is June to end of August.

Me and my other half will be visiting Paris for the first time for a few days. I have been researching and i really like the look of the opera district however would like to ask for opinions on it this area.
We are young however want to see everything Paris has to offer. Preferably would like to say somewhere picturesque but with nice coffee shops in easy reach places.
We don't mind walking to places - a bit hesitant on taking public transport however we're aware we would need to. Any pros and cons anybody could list for this area? Example if it's too expensive/hard to get to places or even any positive views. I've heard that the restaurants aren't that great in the 9th district either! Very confused as to where to stay now. I did like the look of the W hotels opera too.
Thank you all in advance!

Hi,
I'll be travelling alone but I still want to see the Opera district at night. Is it safe to walk alone or do you know if they offer evening walking tours? I already have a tour booked for Paris.
Thanks

where is the 9th district located?
Written 21 July 2015
The 9th arrondissement is a diverse residential area popular among an artistic crowd. This Southern portion is similar to the 2nd arrondissement, with a mix of residential and business buildings. The Paris Opera is located here as well as Les Grands Magasins (Galeries Lafayette and Printemps). Further North is Pigalle, home of the famous Moulin Rouge and the fading Red Light district. 9th arrondissement is a
