Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

OK, this is a fascinating place, no doubt. It's a feast for the eyes with every inch of the building covered with art. There are many talented artists who have studios here, some of whom will be at work while you visit. You can buy art directly from the artists if you please and see some great contemporary talent. That said, it's extremely crowded and most people are just there to take pictures. I got the sense that some of the artists were a bit annoyed (if you don't know the history, it hasn't always been open to the public). I didn't see anyone engaging with the artists or attempting to purchase art. So I'm guilty of being one of these people myself, but it's just something to keep in mind while you visit. Again, it's a fantastic thing to see, but I did feel like I was part of this tourist mob bothering people at work. And yes, I know they get the space for free, but I'm just sharing the vibe I got.

Agnes Varda's classic movie Cleo from 5 to 7 from 1962 was filmed in this building. It is in this building that Corrine Marchand has her horoscopes read with bad news regarding her cancer. She wanks downs the stairs of this building, exits into Rue Rivoli and turns left towards Pont Neuf. This building is now a Free arts center where creative artists do their creation. See pictures attached. One of the employees confirmed that this is the building where the interior and exterior shots were filmed for the movie Cleo 5 to 7.

And now for something completely different from the Paris sights! We enjoyed our walk through the building. Art everywhere, artists mostly approachable, take pictures with permission only. Free entry but donations are (understandably) welcome. We saw some amazing stuff and are happy to follow some of the creatives on insta now.

If contemporary art appeals to you, but you don't enjoy the stuffy gallery experience, then you will likely have a great experience at 59 Rivoli. With 30 artists among the six floors of working studios, you will find something that intrigues or excites you, and some that does not (but that is the nature of art hunting). It is a very welcoming, fun space.
But in addition to the art itself, you will find artists onsite willing to engage with you about their work. During my visit, I saw many visitors wander through the studios without speaking to the artists, but if you fall in love with a piece, let the artist know you are interested in acquiring it, and perhaps you'll return home from Paris with one of the best mementos ever (and a great piece of art).
Special thanks to Francesco, who took time to discuss his art and the history of the studio, which is compelling. He also took our family portrait in his ceiling mirror- one of our favorite photos of our trip to Paris. Thank you Francesco!

If your looking for something to do for free in Paris this is a great option. Each floor of this building offers different amazing artwork.
It is so amazing to see so many different technics and skills under one floor.
All the artists are so nice and friendly. You can buy unique pieces displayed here and if the artist is not there they have their numbers you can call QR codes with their Instagram handles.

A great thing to slip in between museums, galleries and historic buildings when you're feeling overwhelmed by history. Entrance to these artists' studios is free and very instagram-friendly for photos. Was described as my teen's 'favourite thing about Paris'. Most artists don't mind you sharing images as long as you appropriately tag them and acknowledge their work.

As I walked through the very informal, working spaces of young artists, I thought that it might feel like what it was to walk through Monmartre back in the early 20th century. Most of the artists were in their 20s and 30s, clearly living a bit rough, not making a lot, but devoted to their passion. The building is a 6 story walk up, but easy to manage.

The building is on a main touristy street snd we definitely didn't expect to come across such great art. Even seeing the actual working studios of the artists was a treat. There is art to buy, real life art being created as you walk by. A treasure trove of creativity. Would absolutely recommend

A very interesting place and the artwork on the stairwells and doorways impressive. However as an overseas visitor I'd no idea how I might purchase art if I wanted to. I don't expect the resident artists to be there all the time but when absent how is one to communicate with them ?

Such a fun authentic place for art appreciation - see the artists in their studios in a fun environment . Plus it’s free. A local at a store we were shopping at told us about it and it made for a fun start to our last evening in Paris.
