Top ways to experience La Butte Aux Cailles and nearby attractions

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique
Far off the beaten path, this part of Paris is a forgotten gem worth exploring. Avenue d’Ivry houses Europe's largest Chinatown with great Asian supermarkets and shops, and a thrilling atmosphere around Chinese New Year. Place d’Italie impresses onlookers as soon as they set their eyes on it. Not far, around La Butte aux Cailles, the streets suddenly imitate provincial France and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported. The beauty of these streets lies in their surprises around every twist and turn.
How to get there
  • Corvisart • 3 min walk
  • Place d'Italie • 7 min walk

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There were a lot of sordid looking characters in and around this street. This avenue is poshness attempted butto no success.

Our group enjoyed a long walk through this residential neighborhood, which is one of my favorite parts of Paris. We stopped for drinks at the end of our walk. Pleasant apartment blocks and individual houses. A small shopping and eating area. Some interesting street art.

The place you have to visit if you like graffiti, chill, have a nice walk, enjoy with locals ...This is the part of the city far away from touristic routes. If I choose to live in Paris this would be the place!

Take a walking tour here, guided or self-guided. You will enjoy some great street art, some lovely cafes, and a cool urban neighborhood. I would like to live here.

A real treasure, a special neighborhood that has not been completely invaded. Look for cafes and restaurants, and look for the art graffiti on the walls. Quiet real place.

Charming village neighborhood, now home of some interesting graffiti art. So you need to walk around to absorb it all, the cute houses and one can imagine how nice it is to live here, close to the center yet quiet and peaceful. And then there is the art on the walls around. And look for a cafe to sit awhile.

If you can find a walking tour, this is a part of town where it is worth it. Otherwise find a good guide book that takes you through the area which is a little village on the edge of the city. It would be great to live here. Recently some great street art has emerged.

This is one of my favorite neighborhoods as it is off the beaten path. It's a very quaint village, close to public transit. Some interesting street art, some attractive small homes, and lots of quiet street. Look for neighborhood restaurants and cafes.

This is one of my favorite residential areas of Paris, a bit out of the way, but that is one of the reasons why it is so charming. Quiet and full of small pleasant buildings. Take a walking tour to learn about the special qualities.
