Seeing this palace will take you the better part of the day, depending on how much of the grounds you want to experience. We rented bikes near Apollo's Fountain which made seeing the back half of the estate much easier. Stop for a snack at Dauphin's Grove to stave off the hunger on your journey to the Petit and Grand... I went there the explore how Louise X1V turned his father's old hunting lodge into the largest palace in Europe and moved his court here in 1678. It was a royal residence for more than a century until Louise XV1 and his queen Marie-Antoinette fled during revolution. Well this is really a grand palace and you need whole day to... More

This was worth the trip. We like outdoor things most. The gardens are free to walk about. When we arrived the line was very long, so we first walked in the immense beautiful garden to avoid the crowd. People really looked relaxed and happy. One lady pointed out a bird with blue streak on its wing. You can rent a... More

We went on a sunny November morning. Took an Uber from Montparnasse & it was pretty cheap. If you are runners, or into fitness, I suggest you bring your gear and hang out in the gardens after exploring the Chateau. Pretend you're a local and do a slow jog or stretches in the gardens, you won't regret it.

Our experience wasn't good, and after Louvre and Eiffel, it wasn't as spectacular as one might expect. First, from a museum experience perspective, the two things one could expect from a World-class experience are: (i) having an organized entry, and (ii) legends that could guide you while you're in. The entry was chaotic, and some relevant legends unreadable because of... More

First you have to know that the castle is always full of visitors no matter when you visit. So come early, prepare good shoes for long walks in the parc and enjoy. The castle+Trianon palaces + gardens can be expensive the 3 together but you have to visit it. The castle is completely huge, the furnitures, paintings, tapestries etc everything... More

Versailles is everything that I expected except that there is really tooooooo much people. Normally an average crowd could directly kill 50% of my interest but The lux and beauty it has really is astonishing. It's a shame that most part of the palais is not open to public otherwise it would be even better. Ps, the garden is free... More

Chose to visit independently by using public transport, which was really easy to do. Being a history geek, did enhance my visit but, Versailles really does have the wow factor. Good value for money, cost €25 including train fare from central Paris. Was expecting horrendous Saturday crowds but, was all very civilised
