What an incredible experience! This tour is a must for anyone visiting Carcassonne. Brent was a superb tour guide, guiding us with so much enthusiasm through the history of this quaint little French-town. We enjoyed the chocolatier experience, which is a must for chocolate lovers, followed by a wine tasting session in which we had the opportunity to sample local wines as well as meet so many interesting tourists. At the end of the tour, Brent took us to an authentic Italian café, where we sampled some delicious homemade pizzas. A must do experience!!!!

We joined Brent on his tour as we have enjoyed various wine tasting tours and this sounded a little different. We were not disappointed ! Brent is really friendly and knowledgeable about Carcassonne and the wines we tasted. The tapas and chocolates were a real treat, this is a fun tour and I would highly recommend it.

Brent was an excellent guide. Hardly anyone knows the culture and history of carcassonne and the region and is equally as knowledgeable about chocolate and wine as he is. As a native English speaker who is fluent in French he was able to easily connect to us and be a wonderful bridge to help us understand the carcassonne way of life. It felt like a morning spent with a friend who is local more than a formal tour which was just lovely. This is the way to really get to know a country. We stayed as tourists and we left getting a real sense of what living in carcassonne may feel like. We also had lovely wine (and plenty of it!). Food was also aplenty starting with delicious chocolates and then cheese and sausages and crackers to accompany the wine. Pizza and paninis with the second tasting made a whole meal (and a big one). There was no pressure to have a lot but also plenty of opportunity to have as much wine as anyone may want. We are so grateful to Brent for making our trip so memorable. This was for sure one of the highlights of our trip!

I had a wonderful tour with Brent. Not only were the tastings superb, his local knowledge and stories of Carcassonne were great to hear, the relationship with the people and places we visited was lovely to see. His recommendations of places to eat and drink were also spot on. A brilliant tour which I would happily repeat.

I loved this tour with Brent, it was the prefect level of knowledge and Information about Carcassonne, Cocoa and Vin…the places we visited had brilliant selections of wine, chocolate and a bonus was the pizza at the last stop.
Would definitely recommend this to anyone travelling to Carcassonne and wanting a fun few hours.

We HIGHLY recommend this tour! Brent was very knowledgeable about not only the wines and chocolate but the history as well. We have previously been on many different tasting tours across the country and can confidently say this was the best. In our group we have some wine drinkers, and some that have never drank wine at all and every single one of us loved it. This is a must do if you will be in Carcassonne!! This made our trip!!

We can HIGHLY recommend Brent’s Cocoa & Grapes tour of the Bastide in Carcassonne.
We enjoyed every minute of it - all the great information about the Bastide and the Cité, as well as all the delicious treats along the way.
It was very relaxing, informative and good fun. Making our last day in Carcassonne very enjoyable.

Are the walking tours dog friendly?

Small, well behaved dogs only. A dog you can easily pick up. No dogs that beg or cause disruption to others on the tour. Otherwise they will need to be taken outside the shops we visit.
We are a couple with a boy (3 years)... We would like to make something like that. We will be in carcassonne in agoust. Is it possible??

HI there, Sorry for the late reply. I did in the past allow small children on the tour. But unfortunately it did not work out well. My tour is best suited to those 18 years and above. We spend a fair amount of time tasting and talking about wine. Kind regards, Brent

I am visiting Carcassonne in September and like the sound of your tour. My issue is that I use a walking stick and my mobility is not great. I can't walk very fast or far so did wonder if I would be able to do the tour. Please could you advise me of the distance and time covered. Thank you

Hi The tour last,s about 4 to 5 hours, Brett is very helpful, best to e mail him, walking pace is slow as he is showing you,around, the Patisserie / chocolatiere,may have a chair you can sit on and the wine tasting as well, in a small house cellar in the centre.He is very helpful the pace is leisurely.

Hi We did the tour, approx 55 euros each met at 9am by the bridge to view chateau, walking tour ,drinks in a cafe and wine tasting worth every penny very informative , patisserie chocolatiere, wine cellar fabulous, and we did the sat market very good.Tour finished approx 2pm. Thank you for your interest in Cocoa & Grapes Walking Tour in Carcassonne.
It is somewhat difficult for me to say as I don't know your level of limited mobility.
The tour is a walking tour that lasts up to 4 hours. We walk to and visit 3 shops all together. On the way to the first shop, and in between as we are walking to the next shops I share historical stories of both Carcassonne and chocolate and wine. Depending on the shops we visit (which depends on which ones are open) sometimes there are chairs to sit on while in the shops, but not always.
There are no hills but surfaces can be uneven as this is an old town with old uneven sidewalks and roads etc. In the summer months it can be quite hot when walking around which can add to someones difficulty. The tour is definitely not wheelchair accessible.
For any given tour date I require a minimum of 2 people on the tour. Sometimes I have up to 8 people, but usually only 4 - 6 at the most.
If you are concerned about keeping up with the others, I could possibly offer you a private tour at an additional cost.
I'm not really sure what else I can add to this. Ultimately it will have to come down to your decision.

I can offer you a walking tour on 15, 16, 17, 20 or 21 of October. The walking tour runs in the morning from 09h00 to approximately 12h30. The cost is €55 each with a €20 per person non refundable deposit required to hold your places.
