Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Small but very charming the "Chapelle Notre Dame de la Sante". Situated next to the "Pont Vieux" you have a full view of the Fortress and the bridge itself. It is a must visit on the trip between Fortress and the city.

Nice little church on the bridge to Cité de Carcassonne. This historic building is small but offers the visitor a time to sit and reflect. Very peaceful and well worth a visit.

The Chapel of Notre Dame de la Sante is located in the Bastide side of the L'Aude River adjacent to the Old Bridge. Constructed in 1527, the interior ceilings have amazing ribbed vaulting. The church marks the beginning of the pilgrimage path through the Pyrenean foothills to Saint-Jean Pied de Port and onto Santiago de Compostello in Spain. This is not just a history building, but a well used church by the local population, quite peaceful yet alive.

This tiny little chapel situated on the end of the medieval bridge (the Pont Vieux) leading to La Cité was built near to the hospital Saint-Jacques which treated victims of the plague. It has been well preserved and has a beautiful arched roof and lovely stained glass windows. Well worth looking in to reflect on its history and is open most days from 8 am to 6 pm. It also marks the departure of the Pyrenean Piedmont road to Saint Jean Pied de Port in the direction of Santiago de Compostela.

Notre-Dame-de-la-Santé chapel was built around 1500 at the entrance to the Pont-Vieux in Carcassonne, replacing a previous one built in 1397. After becoming a private house after the French revolution, it was restored and converted back to a chapel by Bishop François Alexandre Roullet de La Bouillerie.

Two statues of the Virgin and Child are on display: one in white marble from the 16th century that was in the original chapel, and a polychrome statue from the 19th century on the altar, a work of the sculptor Auguste Perrin.

The chapel is very small and on the right wall looking at the altar there are several ex-votos.
