Four storeys of soup tureens. Ok, not that bad, but I think one must already have an interest in porcelain to enjoy this very large museum of kaolin. Perhaps the best parts of the visit were the entry video and the exhibits showing how the porcelain is made.

Huge selection of cups, saucers, vases and porcelain art, never before seen so many of them in one place. A bit mixed up in styles. And except for the map, everything is in French, including the film about the production process. I was done pretty quickly, but if you like looking at porcelain, this is your paradise :)

Magnificent museum. Definitely worth a visit at a very reasonable price. Very beautiful old and contemporary pieces. We spent 2.5 hours there, the time necessary to see all of the works. Also remember to look at the building. A beautiful combination of old and modern. I highly recommend it.

Masterful restoration of the buildings. Modern and old coexist perfectly. Beautiful chronology, excellent organization of the windows (modern and very beautiful old ones). Very beautiful display material. Didactic and educational museum. Friendly reception and surveillance staff.
Nice shop.
…and with that free for ALL teachers.
To be warmly recommended.

Currently under restoration, only the ground floor is accessible to visitors. This is a bit of a relief since the holdings of the museum are vast.
It is a venerable institution founded in 1845 and accorded national museum status in 1881 but it is far from stuffy and boring. Limoges in the porcelain capital of France and one of the major centres for china in the west. The museum reflects this fact with a something-for-everyone collection of ceramics. Picasso plates, royal tableware, sculpture and a comprehensive collection of ceramics of every period and style.
The shop is excellent.

On visiting the centre of Limoges for the first time it seemed almost obligatory to visit the museum of the porcelain that has made the city renowned throughout the world. The museum Adrien Dubouche is easy to find as it is near the city centre and conveniently has a very large car park opposite it.
I found the decorative 19th century architecture of the museum particularly attractive and its recent extensive renovations added value.
We were particularly fascinated by the exhibits showing the manufacturing processes and the old machines which had been used in the mass production of porcelain and its associated products. I especially appreciated the ‘voyage’ through the history of pottery up to the present day, and the exquisite exhibits of the extremely fine works made in ‘biscuit’ (the French version of parian).
Speaking French well, the fact that all the exhibit labels were only in French did not cause me any problems. However, for non-French speakers I imagine guide books or English commentaries must be available at the reception.
A visit to the museum is a must for those interested in the fine arts, not just those fascinated by the pottery of Limoges.

We didn't have enough time to do justice to this museum as we arrived late in the afternoon in Limoges. There are three floors displaying the most wonderful pieces of Limoges pottery both old and new and also a history of pottery work from ancient to modern times from all around the world, plus a very interesting contemporary installation. Many of the pieces displayed are superb in their intricacies, and the collection is very comprehensive. The only complaint is the lack of even one or two lines of explanations in English so I had to guess at a lot of the explanations in French. Never mind the beauty of the pieces speaks for itself. A very reasonable entry fee at 4.5€ and there is ample parking nearby in open air car parking spaces, just don't forget to put money into the meter to buy a ticket. Unfortunately there is no cafe on site but the ticket desk person said that they hope to have one in the future. The museum seems to have been renovated only recently and it is a pleasure to visit.

We had one hour to spend there before catching our train so the curator suggested we tour two of the rooms, one showing the process and the other the display of the collection. Very well laid out and clearly explained and we wishe that we had all day to spend there.

This is one of the best collections that I have ever seen and one of the best visual explanations of the process of porcelain/china manufacture. Additionally, a very well laid-out and cared-for building (including bathrooms) with an amazing collection of porcelains from all around the world, but with an understandable concentration on the marvelous porcelains of Limoges. The history of porcelain manufacture includes models of the earliest tools and furnaces used which we found extremely educational. The Museum is an undiscovered jewel, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about it. After discovering its marvels, my husband and I extended our stay in Limoges and made three additional visits to this museum. Need I say more?

During our time in France, we visited the Musee National Adrien Duboche which is the national porcelain museum several times. The porcelain art on display is truly world-class and worth the visit or several visits. Additionally, their educational exhibits are outstanding showing the porcelain process and the history of porcelain from ancient middle-eastern and Japanese displays to completely modern exhibits. Quite honestly, I knew literally nothing about porcelain but was absolutely amazed and entranced by the art and the exhibits. I cannot encourage you enough to visit the museum it's well worth the trip. As I said, we went several times and enjoyed every visit and always found something additional to catch the eye. DO GO AND ENJOY, YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID.

Bonjour,

Bonne visite.

It was 6 months ago. Think about 5 to 10 Euros and very, very well worth the price of admission. We went twice during our stay, it is that good.
