Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One of the best trips of my life! Absolutely beautiful place. The peace and gentleness of the experience will be with me forever. Though there are many many people it is so smoothly run by volunteers that there is no issues at all.
Very touched to see so many young and old volunteers helping the people in wheelchairs and those who have illness.
The water at Lourdes is very healing too. I bought a big bottle filled it up at the Lourdes taps ( spring water from the mountain) and distributed it to family and friends at home ( it is check in luggage for bringing back water).
The church itself is absolutely beautiful inside.
The 9 pm procession of Mother Mary is worth doing and very special indeed.
Can’t recommend it more. Hope to go back!

A life-changing experience. A visit to this place was really my main reason for wanting to visit France. I joined the procession, attended mass, drank the water and performed the water gesture with my wife. I still cannot get over the feeling when I recall the whole experience.

The first thing that struck us was the amazing architecture, and how vast the site actually was. We felt an overwhelming spiritual presence whilst praying at the grotto, also saying the rosary at the grotto. Being out of season we didn't have to wait too long in line for the "baths" again a wonderful experience. The only reason we didn't give a five star review is that we felt (as did many others) that €21.00 to get a Mass said in Lourdes was somewhat excessive. Will definitely return some day.

Being here in the Grotto gives one a special feeling , and as we touch the cold rocks from one end and move on with the pilgrims to the other end, it gives us time to acknowledge our gratitude for this life and seek blessings. The rocks have sofened over the years which shows the strength of the faithful. A true feeling to realise spiritually.

Grotte de Masabielle is the cave, where there was the Apparition of the Virgin in Lourdes. Now there is a chapel and on it there is a very big sanctuary. In the cave masses are celebrated every day with a lot of people, it is a very important religious place. For no religious people, it is a curious, historical and interesting place. Ok.

We’ve been so blessed to visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes. It was a real pilgrimage of thanksgiving and prayer for continued good health and guidance in our family. Walking in grotto where you can touch the rock faced wall and praying brought me to tears for unexplained reason.

First of all worth noting that by far the best time of all to visit the grotto is at 9 o’clock, when most are viewing the candlelight procession. This is very much a magical and spiritual place, especially at night when the lighted candle procession takes place. Well worth a visit to the holy water source, an amazing area. The chapels are of interest, and the outside architecture is stunning. Religious or not, an experience at the Lourdes grotto is inspirational. Something to keep in mind though is you will not be alone with your thoughts!

To visit this place one may feel the peace, joy and hope our Lady offers to us. This is where the Lady appeared to Bernadette. The well is not open for people to view up close, but you can see it from a good distance. When visiting this exact site, kneel and feel the love ❤️ our Lady has never ceased to give.

It once was beautiful and truly religious, but now the people there are just after your money and have no respect. Therefore, I must say that the devil has overtake this place. Truly saddened by the experience me and my family have gone through. It’s a shame as this place was once a jewel of Catholicism.

It was my dream to visit the cave of Lourdes always seen on TV and followed the rosary through the channel tv2000. We arrived in the evening and enjoyed sitting in the famous wooden benches the Mass in Italian. I can't describe the feelings I felt. A moving silence despite so many people were circling. You can really breathe faith. I'm just sorry I couldn't attend the afternoon rosary that I always see on TV but it was raining. I will definitely come back for this. I was amazed to hear how many times people had gone there to Lourdes but now that I have been there I understand why. I will definitely stay there again.

C'est pas chrétien les animaux ont été créé par dieu, comment expliquez-vous cette contradiction ?
Les animaux font partie de la famille pourquoi refuser un membre d'une famille notre seigneur n'aurait sûrement pas accepté le rejet de l'autre.

How much do it cost for a espresso coffee
Written 3 March 2020
The « Grotte de Massabielle » is a religious cave inside the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes sanctuary. There are no cafes or restaurants inside the entire sanctuary of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes. All cafes and restaurants are outside. Most of the time, they sell the espresso between € 1.80 and € 2.50

we, party of 4, are above 64 y/o. One person in the group needs assistance with transport.
We plan to fly from Los Angeles, USA to Paris to Lourdes( any direct flight from LAX to Lourdes?)
Would like a private tour for 2 days in Lourdes. Then we will go to Marseilles to board a 3 day cruise ship, and back to Marseilles to fly back to USA.
Any advice would be appreciated
Thank you

your best route is LAX to CDG { Charles deGaulle then on to Lourdes/ Tarbes. You will change planes at least in Paris. If you don't watch your connections you may also [ id you fly Delta] have to change planes in Atlanta [Atl]. No direct flights toLourdes!
Ask what ever airline you choose to provide you with mobility assistance at all airports- CDG is a huge airport and the distances are great! Contact the Information center in Lourdes for this oarlock on trip advisor as they have some listed private tours. Lourdes will supply wheelchairs if asked. There is a train station in Lourdes . It is a 6 hour train ride with at least one train change enroute. Or you can fly direct to Marseilles. I would recommend Air France as they have the best selection of routes. If they have a Airbus 780-800 get upper seats[ plane has two levels] and ask for duo- seats it will cost you more but that will be a long flight

Can you actually touch the water in the original grotto?
Are the baths open to children?
Written 7 January 2020
Yes to first question; not sure re second...I didn't see children in the bath area when we were there, but there were certainly a great many children in and around that area, including the grotto....

We are planning to visit next year March 2020 for the first time US to Paris 2 nights and 4 nights in Lourdes. For some reason Fare from US to Lourdes is cheaper in March is it because lesser tourists? If it is we like that. I want to come and visit that is not busy. Aside from month of March how about February? Any suggestions and/or comments are greatly appreciated. God Bless
Written 27 August 2019
It is definitely cheaper because of the fact that it is still cold during that time and more rain. For some reasons this place has a lot of rainfall during the year. If the rain and cold are fine with you, you can just buy some raincoats and umbrella available in several places around Lourdes as they know the place suffers a lot of rainfall.
