Very nice view
Nice museum
Very nice young man who explains well.
We go up by two elevators.
Toilets are only at the bottom of the elevators.
The lady at reception is charming and explanatory today, October 8.
Negative point closes between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
Note that in the tower some stairs are hard to go up and especially to go down.
7.50€ except handicap card 2.5€ and 3.5€ for the accompanying person

Interesting place to visit if you're in Lourdes. You can get there by bus, Le Petit Train or even walk. Lourdes is small enough to walk to most attractions. There is a lift to the first floor then steps to the various exhibits and outdoor areas. We bought a City Pass for €24 which allows you to visit 7 places most on the Petit Train. Lovely views of Lourdes and definitely worth a visit. Enjoyable.

Takes roughly 1.5 hours to view the whole castle. It cost us €8 per adult and €4 euro per student, make sure you have your student ID to show.
We walked up the stairs, 104 I think they said, these bring you to the drawbridge to enter the castle. There are also lifts at the entrance. And toilets. Great views, great exhibitions, worth the visit.
Thankyou for a lovely visit.

Chateau Fort is the main castle located. in the well known city in the South of France called Lourdes. The castle is a very beautiful building, which you can see from some parts of the town. If you enter, you can visit some rooms and learn about the history of the castle, see very nice views of the town and the important churches and walk in free air, where you can see some models of buildings. Very nice, for me, the best visit in the city. Pitifully, we visit it in a rainy day. Also, my 4 years old daughter enjoyed a lot seeing the rooms, where the princess lived.. :-)

Pleasant visit which offers a beautiful view of the valley. Our 5 year old child enjoyed the place.
Some improvements for the visitor route:
- review the explanatory panels, particularly the tools, in order to better understand their use.
-synchronize the child's visit booklet with the room numbers to make it easier to use. Find a 'fall' more linked to the castle than the release of a witch never encountered in the castle
- clean the windows, say goodbye to multi-annual dust and dead spiders. Sort collections and furniture in quantity.
Finally for young parents, forget the stroller and put on the backpack to carry the youngest during the visit, it's a great place of history!

The Château de Lourdes took part in the European Archeology Days. Thanks to this, we were able to benefit from a great visit to the archaeological secrets of the castle.
Our guide, Clément, was really excellent throughout the visit, providing us with lots of very enriching information.
Thank you for this great time! The children loved it

Castle visited during the small train ride in the city. Nice to be able to stop, visit and get off with the train
The visit of the castle with its 25 points of interest is very nice and informative, just a little disappointed by the keep because after this long climb of the steps ... not much to see. The rest is worth a visit and what a beautiful view of the sanctuary

Merci pour ce joli retour de visite.
Il est vrai que le panorama sur le Sanctuaire, la ville et les Pyrénées depuis la Pointe du Cavalier Sud est exceptionnel.
En haut du donjon est présenté une collection de marbre.

Definitely worth a visit. It's small but very nice. It is easily accessible due to its central location. Inside different settings with costumes and furniture of the time. From the different terraces you can enjoy a wonderful view of Lourdes and its surroundings. Recommendation.

Have a nice visit.
Very nice staff.
We took the time to enjoy the beautiful view (especially on the sanctuary of Lourdes)
A pretty little village will await you upstairs.
Disappointed with the tower where the view is not as impressive as expected after climbing a number of steps.

If you are visiting Lourdes on a pilgrimage or just visiting the town do try and make a little time to visit the 8th Century Château fort de Lourdes perched up above the town.
Entrance to the fort is 5 Euros, and for me well worth it, if you do not fancy the steep climb up the stairs there is a very convenient lift right by the ticket booth which will take you straight up to the fort itself.
Once up there you will find this very tight compact little, almost village like, set of buildings, including the Pyrenean museum founded in 1921, also in the heart of the fortress a nice garden area and of course the obligatory gift shop. But what is special are the views from the ramparts, from looking down and across to the Sanctuaries and the basilica, to looking south and seeing the snow capped Pyrenees in the distance, fabulous views.
In 1995 du Château fort de Lourdes was classified as a historical monument, so if you do get the chance do go I am sure you will enjoy it I know I did, and what ever you do don't forget to take the camera for some stunning shots. Enjoy!

Is this fort wheelchair accessible please? If yes are there high slopes to get there ?
Written 28 May 2019
There is an elevator that gets you to the main area but after that there are a lot of stairs. You won't see much more than the a few of the exteriors of the buildings.

can you bring a disabled person to the castle by car?

We have a parking at the foot of the castle. An ascensseur is available to go up to the 1st floor of the castle however the visit is difficult in wheelchairs, all the pieces are not accessible

Turn left onto Avenue Bernadette Soubirous, then go over Pont Veux, carry on keeping left and go up Rue de la Grotte. When you get to the top keep left, and then take your first left into Rue du Fort. The fort is on your left.
