Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This very interesting old-fashioned museum, poorly marked from the outside, is hidden on the upper floor of a building next to the Ingres Museum, probably because it could hardly accommodate more than 50 visitors at a time to walk between its wonderful wooden display cases and its important collections, particularly of birds.
Suddenly, we are calm there and we can understand that the fashion of "scripting" a few species, often the same, far from enriching us, deprives us of appreciating the infinite variety of the animal world. Here you can dream about the multiplicity of shapes and colors without wasting time reading labels or long descriptions. Finally a real "immersion"..

we went to visit the museum in February 2024, we were surprised by the multitude of animals presented, impressive collection, everything is very well organized in the various rooms, organized and explained in a simple way and within everyone's reach, well done, (room in particular on the different eras, and as a specialist in paleo and fossils I must say that your collection on minerals and fossils is remarkable), plus, a great welcome and a passionate gentleman, we had to go back otherwise I could have spend hours chatting with this gentleman, nicolas and élise teacher from Hérault, seen today February 17, 2024, thank you. Too bad we are “so far” I would have liked to come with my class. In short, go there, it's worth the detour.

Bird skeletons may sound a bit Gothic; but are actually very lovely and jewel like. Really needs more than one visit to take it all in.

There really is nothing to see . possibly the worst museum I have ever wasted my time. However it may have changed as I have not been there for at least three years I do not think this likely as I am a local (tho not French) I am a huge fan of the Musee d'Ingres however

do go they have an amazing range of stuffed animals in a very small space - and yes it sounds strange but it is very interesting and you can view creatures you rarely even see in a zoo up close.
Some of the exhibits I found sad - like the vixen and her little cubs playing around her but overall a worthwhile trip to the second floor of this rather plain building.
Hint though - if you need a loo you have to ask the curator for the key and it is not the loo on the 1st floor (we tried that) it is down on the ground floor!

A museum to discover. Old display cases to keep full of astonishing discoveries. Lack of air conditioning for the conservation of the animals on display and the comfort of staff and visitors.

Rich collection, teaching team, well-explained and educational discovery trail, the animals on display are varied... Would deserve a little more space, labels explaining the degree of danger or extinction for each species, and above all air conditioning! We had great empathy for the team and even the "works" (the glue had better hold well, at 42 degrees!!!), and we too were tourists who came looking for knowledge and freshness!!!
