Try to approach Rocamadour from the old Souillac to Cahors road, far enough south that you come to it from the other side of the river. The view is stunning. Then drive to the carpark near the Chateaux at the top - the main car...More

That they managed to build this in this location is amazing. That pilgrims climbed the grand staircase on their knees is ridiculous, it is hard enough just walking! We went last year and struggled with the hills as I have undergone knee surgery, so this...More

Look, let's be honest, this is one of the great European sites of pilgrimage. In the UK, we have nothing that remotely compares to it, and it is a must see for its natural situation and the wonder of its construction. Anyone calling it average...More

The town of Rocamdour is spectacular when viewed from afar, perched in the cliffs, but we were underwhelmed by the churches. This may be an occasion when those who are deeply religious find the inside of the church to be as inspiring as the outside....More

As you crest the hill and look across the valley, Rocamadour, perched on a cliff just takes your breath away. Well worth a visit (Parking, 4 Euro for 3 hours) The pilgrimage to the Black Virgin must have been a major quest.

The history and beauty of this site is awe inspiring. Yes there are a lot of tourists, but the spirituality of the chapels and cathedral will overcome the masses. A must see in the Dordogne.
