Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A pretty small square with an interesting Protestant church on one side and Courthouse on the other.
Oct 2019
Place du Salin is a small triangle shaped square with lots of trees at the junction of five roads surrounded by various buildings including the Courthouse and temple of Salin (Protestant church).
It gets its name from the 12th century Royal Saltworks, a 20-meter tower surrounded by slots on its battlement, through which stones or boiling water could be dropped on attackers at its base, which was used as a salt warehouse and salt duty tax collection building (temple of Salin).
During the 1184-1230 French Roman catholic church’s Inquisition, many executions were carried out here, like burning at the stake, hangings and torture on the wheel.
In 1532 Lutheran Jean de Caturce was burnet at the stake for refusing to retract his religious beliefs, followed by Giulio Cesare 1619. In 1762, Pastor François Rochette was hanged there and the three brothers from Grenier, again Protestant gentlemen, were beheaded.
In 1792 the squares name was changed to Place de la Carmagnole after a popular French revolution song, but it soon changed back to its old Occitanie name.
Today it is a much calmer place, recommend visiting the modified royal salt works building now a Protestant church of the Salin, it has a great church’s organ.
TIP: A place to sit with a coffee, and contemplate all the history that has taken place here.
