Beyond the Postcard

My husband and I were delighted when our daughter, a Toulouse resident, treated us to a Toulouse Walking Tour led by Penny Dickinson. Because we have been to Toulouse several times now and become familiar with the main attractions we opted for the Beyond The Postcard tour to explore the eastern side of old Toulouse. Penny provided us with a really interesting experience. In two hours we were introduced to the historical, cultural, architectural, political, and artistic strands which are the foundation of and make Toulouse a beautiful vibrant city. Penny brought the history alive with her knowledge about people and their contributions and how they left their mark on Toulouse. We would highly recommend this tour.

Penny is a very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and warm person who adds a bit of everything for everyone to her stories and tips. Made it a lot easier for me to find worthwile activities and good spots for food and gift shopping.

The perfect way to get a glimpse into Toulouse’s colourful history!

My friend and I were lucky enough to have the infectiously enthusiastic Penny all to ourselves! We took in all the key sights of Toulouse and learnt so much along the way.

The key sights tour would be perfect to do early on during your stay if you’re a tourist - Penny gives a wonderful overview, also pointing out some fantastic places to eat. We did the tour having lived here for over a decade and I was amazed at what we didn’t know!

The tea and cake break down by the river was an absolute delight too - Penny thinks of everything!

It is clear that Penny loves what she does and you can’t help but want to do another tour!

See you soon for the next one!

A must for locals and visitors alike, discover the colours of Toulouse

Being fortunate enough to have lived around Toulouse for many years, I was gifted a Walking Tour with Penny and it didn’t disappoint! Under her guidance, we decided upon the Key Sights and Hidden Gems Tour in order to get an overview of the wonderful place we call home.

Due to the uncommonly cold, wet and windy conditions, we had the pleasure of not only having Penny to ourselves, but it seemed the whole city, which only added to the experience.

Discovering the colourful history of “La ville rose” on foot with an expert guide and her many fascinating stories is a must for both locals and visitors alike.

Penny’s infectious enthusiasm and expert knowledge only being surpassed slightly, by her caring hospitality for your comfort throughout the journey. The tea and cakes at “half time” were a welcome and delicious treat!

Penny not only paints a picture of Toulouse in rose, bleu and, of course, green but all the hues in between! What a wonderful way to discover Toulouse, the hardest choice will be which tour to go on next.

Simply the best walking tour!

In short - Penny’s tour of Toulouse is simply the best! I have been on many walking tours - all over the world - and this one is true standout! What makes it so good? PENNY!! Penny’s enthusiasm and deep love for Toulouse shines through during the entire tour. Wonderful route - with both some of the expected landmarks and some that are off the beaten path. The tour shines a light on Toulouse’s rich history and beautiful modern life; both tourists and city residents will learn and see something new. Book this tour with Penny - it will be one of your highlights during your time in Toulouse!

We were lucky to have found this tour . Penny is very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, professional and friendly. She gave us great tips on what to do and where to eat as well which we have already used with satisfying results. A great introduction to Toulouse - do it early in your stay . You won’t regret it . Super fun 3+ hour tour!

Penny is amazing! She's lived in Toulouse for 20+ years and shares all her favorite spots plus so much history along the way. She even gave us a map at the end showing the walking route we took so that we could revisit anything that needed more time. The group was 8 people total, so there was no risk of anyone getting lost in a crowd or not hearing what she was saying as we walked. Highly recommend this tour!

Delightful and Well Paced Introduction to Toulouse

This tour was perfect for me and my parents who were visiting for a weekend. Penny is kind, friendly and knowledgable. She shares her love of Toulouse and really delivers on a delightful blend of food, history and hidden delights. She provides wonderful recommendations and I highly recommend her Key Sights of Toulouse tour if it is your first visit. It really saved me from asking 'what is that' every 5 steps.

I look forward to trying the Beyond the Postcard option next!
