Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This street is a straight shot to the Capitole and is in the historic city center. It has great shopping and little crepe stands as well. The winding cobblestone streets make your shopping trip seen even more special.

Rue Saint-Rome a great street to walk down full of shops and history.
Check out no 39 the Historic home of d ‘Augier Ferrier a physician and the guide in Judicial Astrology (The supposed divination of human affairs based on the motions of the stars and planets) for Queen Catherine of Medicis for 40 years, and also renaissance philosopher Francisco Sanches.
The street takes its name from the old 12th century church of Saint-Romain and has always been popular with the varies merchant guilds as a place to do business. The butchers Guild in the middle of the 12th century where the first to used it, then in 1351 the city fathers decided to install a fish market, but this was not popular with the local inhabitants and finally in 1550 they managed to get it moved. After the disappearance of the fish market, the leather workers Guilds craftsmen and there are leather merchants moved in.
During the French revolution the street name was changed to Liberty Street, but this did not last long and the rue Saint-Rome soon had its old name back.
Between 1809 and 1812, architect Jacques-Pascal Virebent construction work on the Place du Capitole caused the destruction of many houses.
The 1970 brought second-hand clothes and ready-to-wear fabric stores, the street was converted to a no-go car zone in 1974. With the increase in the clothing trade manufacturing in the 1990's and arrival of Asian business owners with low cost stores, most of the other business disappeared.
It was not until 2010 when property values went up, that high end shops started to appear to service more affluent customers.
TIP: Great place to buy the expensive gift you forgot to get.

This street is connecting main places in the city. Is very commercial. You will check it for sure, visiting several places there.

A delightful and wholly magical city, walkable and very navigable. Straddles a late medieval French character, and that of somewhere more mediterranean; the street names are given in both French and Spanish. Very good food and drinks, super animated historic centre, and good communications both within the city and back to the airport make Toulouse a fabulous destination. A number of beautifully maintained architectural jewels provide scope for meaningful sightseeing, and the rosy ambience of this great brick-built gem of the Haute-Garonne made for a wonderful visit.

Lots of different shops - always busy. Narrow street with a really authentic French feel that leads to place de Capitole one end and towards the river at the other.

Why this is considered to be a tourist attraction escapes me. It is a street much like any other in Toulouse: cobbled and often covered with dog excrement.

Lined by clean old buildings that are all different. Walking and seeing the local sights is quite an experience.

We encountered so many cute little cafes and shops all around. The street had a unique charm, and makes you feel like you're on a French movie set!

This street is nice to wander down and nip in and out of some interesting shops. From Place du Capilote, wander to the end of the street, then turn right to head for the canal, stopping for a drink at the Brasserie des Beaux Arts on the sidewalk and watch the world go by. Nice way to spend a couple of hours.

Running from the Place du Capitole to Rue de Metz, this is a busy shopping street, with a lot of foot traffic.
