On a sunny winters day standing on the river bank over looking the river with it's building on the far side reflecting in the water is beautiful. The pictures are even better taken through the half bear branches with their autumn leaves.

Ahhh the Quai de la Daurade. As hard it is to pronounce, as pretty it is 

We came here every day but one day, we just made it for the sundowner (actually by chance). But it turned out to be the hot spot for couples and influencers. Try coming here to watch the sun go down over La Garonne and just enjoy the moment.

Difficult to believe that this was a port, then at some point in the 70s it was a car park! Fortunately this was turned back into a public park and it now has a paved slipway down to the riverside. and the park has a children's playground, a cafe that sells soft drinks. alcohol. sandwiches and desserts at reasonable prices, and the riverside here is where the boat trips depart from.

The beauty of the place is the location. You have great views over the river to St Cyprien on the other bank, plus views up and down the river.

There are many locals who come here to enjoy the riverside, peace and tranquillity, as you can use this as a starting point for a walk along the riverside.

Named after land taken from the 9th century Benedictine priory that had stood there for years (Today Basillique Notre Dame de La Daurada).
The Quai and small riverside dock, were built in 1761 on the orders of the Archbishop of Toulouse. During the French Revolution in 1794, the Quai de la Daurade name was changed to the quai Rousseau and the church converted into a tobacco factory. Later in the 19th century the name was changed back and the tobacco factory became the Basillique Notre Dame de La Daurada, home to the black Madonna. In 1895 on the Quai de la Daurade a new building was built for the Toulouse school of arts, called the Palace of Arts and Science. To promanard along the Quai de la Daurade was very popular in 1920's.
We descended the steps to the river where we could have taken a river boat cruise, or stroll along the Henri Martin promenade next to the river.

TIP: Sometimes on the embankment wall near the Pont Neuf there is artwork on display.

It is indicated as a must place to visit in Toulouse. Yet, most of the comments are about strolling along the river and seeing Pont Neuf. That is fine if you do not have much else to do but not worth walking all the way there to stroll along the Garonne's filthy water. As a world traveler, so many more pleasant strolls along La Seine, Le Danube, etc. Yet, the Cathédrale de la Daurade was a pleasant surpise worth visiting.

Its a great place to sit on the embankment and get a great view of the river. However on my own trip to Toulouse I had a terrible experience here at the Quai. There were plenty of people having a couple of drinks by the riverside, some more than others and lots of seedy people calling out names at my girlfriend and at another female companion we were visiting. My girlfriend and I were also having a few beers when we had an encounter with someone that had had a few too many. One of these rowdy drinkers latched himself on to my girlfriend and wouldn't let go, harassing her. I immediately intervened trying to remove the drunk but he wanted nothing but a fight. I received a punch that sent me to the ground and split my face. When I got back up the drunk had run around and hidden behind his friends jumping up and down yelling curse words in French. My girlfriend and my other friend took me to hospital where I received 20 stitches to my face. I ended up having to stay overnight and the whole next day and receive an X-Ray. In summary the area is beautiful but attracts a very dangerous crowd, be careful in the area if you are visiting.

...for a lovely promenade along the water in this lovely city with well preserved gothic and roman highlights. The gardens were in full bloom to be enjoyed. Office workers and students were seated along the way for their lunch breaks. Very relaxing and opened our eyes to a few more neighborhoods we wanted to see. Very nice.

Walking along the river gives a relaxing experience and enjoyable views. We noticed there was a boat and decided to take that. It was a pleasant ride.
