Great Little Museum With Lots to Tell
This is a great little museum set in the building from which the Dunkirk Evacuations and battle was orchestrated. It's only small and yet it is packed with information. There are videos to watch, tons of items to see and a vast amount of information about the build up, the events and the legacy of the evacuation. I was a little worried as a Brit abroad that there might be language barriers but there was information in multiple languages including English. I learned plenty at this museum and had a great time. Would highly recommend to anyone with an interest in WWII history.

    A must see museum.
Its amazing to think that if we hadn't managed to get the troops off the beaches here at Dunkerque then the 2nd world war would have had a very different ending. Over 300,000 were evacuated and no wonder its gone down in history. The Dunkerque museum is well worth visiting to see how it all happened. Allow a few hours to wonder around.

    Sombre reflections
With a few hours to spend before the trip home this was an ideal find on a windy day making the beach very uncomfortable, though we did manage a walk along the prom to take in the spectacle. this proved a valuable precursor to our visit as it gave perspective to the very well set out museum profiling the evacuation of allied troops over 4 days 80 yrs ago. Very well laid out even our 4yr old grandson understood what had occurred plus it left us adults in a sombre mood on the futility of war. Well worth a visit.

    Important History
Dioramas, artifacts and historical footage dramatically illustrate the 1940 evacuation of 400 000 allied troops following the Nazi invasion of Franch. The Museum also shows the effects of the war on the local population. This Museum is sobering and a reminder of the price of freedom.

    KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN!
Very interesting museum this in the old town fortifications. Plenty to see and exit via the gift shop which only scores a 7 out 10 with me. Excellent toilet facilities if you need them but no coffee shop. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

    Humbling but wonderful experience
The venue from the outside is very unassuming, you go inside and it is very humbling, the history and the story of what happened at Dunkirk and Operation Dynamo really did give you a lot to think of! The amount of items recovered and the stories included really did make me think! Well worth a visit if you love history and this is a big part of our history

A must visit to charge your world war 2 knowledge
Spent about 1.25 hours here and the layout, quality of and breadth of memorabilia and background also in. English was extension. If you go to Dunkirk the main reason is the wars pivotal operation Dynamo, without getting our troops off the beach Britain would have been out of the war.

    Short but interesting visit
Worth a visit if you have a spare hour. Interesting exhibits showing examples of weapons, clothing, vehicles etc. Watch the preview film at the start to set up the rest of the tour properly. Well organised exhibit with good restrooms and small shop.

An excellent Museum with potential to offer more
We visited this museum just prior to taking a private tour . I’m so glad we did. They have a fabulous collection beautifully displayed & a great deal of interesting information . My only complaint is we became a bit overwhelmed with reading the display information. Funding to supply listening devices ( in English) for a self guided tour would be an excellent inclusion & appreciated I’m sure for those with an interested in WW2 but who have only a little knowledge . The staff were also very pleasant & their English language capabilities were much appreciated

The history behind the ill fated evacuation
A true if slightly disjointed story of all the events from all aspects before and during the evacuation in 1940. The Dunkirk movie only tells the highlights, this is the full story, the exhibition follows the narrative from the fall of the European/ British forces and the chaos of the evacuation. Mainly artifacts dug up from the mud/ sand from all “sides”. An entry fee is payable, although we didn’t pay on the day as the whole of Dunkirk was celebrating Heritage Day. V small gift shop. No café, toilets on site. All on 1 floor so suitable for wheelchairs etc.Parking opposite the museum, a large memorial just outside. A truly thought provoking experience. A 10 minute walk to the beach with lots of eating establishments.

Well worth a visit. There is a twelve minute film (in French and English) to provide context, followed by a wider array of exhibits and lots of informative information boards again in French and English.

A small shop and toilets. Allow at least an hour.

Great small museum which details everything about the Dunkirk evacuation of WW2. Reasonably priced at 15 euros for two people. Took about an hour to see everything and it was quiet.

Really informative. Learnt so much, very somber experience but a must visit. My 12 year old son enjoyed visiting too, and certainly came away with a lot more knowledge, empathy and understanding.

Better than we thought it would be. Lots of artifacts - weapons, uniforms, etc as well as facts and figures. Provides a timeline with explanations of the activities on the various days with maps showing the german, french and british lines day by day

On entering the museum, you start by watching a film about Operation Dynamo. This alternates between French with English subtitles and vice versa. It’s a really interesting film and lasts 12 minutes. The museum has many artefacts and has a great deal of information. The exhibits are interesting but a little too sanitised for me. Just another tourist point - on the approach there is a pay and display car park, but directly in front is a free car park.

Chaotic museum that fails put across the story of dynamo. It's just all a bit "Meh"- load of stuff put in glass cases in a difficult to fathom order together with some completely random stuff from later in the war - bits of typhoon aircraft ? STG44? If I was ten years old and visited without prior knowledge I'd have come out without a clue. Very poor gift/bookshop. Not a single title in English and a load of plastic polish models of ME109's. A shame
