Ok so it's October but it was so windy you couldn't sit there at all. All the toilets were shut. The place just looked grim. Sand clearly nice but the amount of roadworks made you want to nit stay a minute. So we didn't. Couldn't...More

A beach that is big big at low tide and kept very clean and a dike of almost 5 km where people are running all day. Joggers, cyclists and skaters cross paths with walkers without jostling each other. The decor offered by the sea is...More

Go early afternoon and enjoy a long walk on the beach or on the walking path. There are many bars and restaurants handy where people watching is good fun.

The beach stretches for miles and is very clean and not over crowded. There are your typical seafront stalls and cheap shops but also some nice places to eat/drink and some of the nicer old buildings to take in further along.

Elisa M
Hello Everyone. I have booked to come to Dunkerque in August with my husband 2 children - 12 & 14 for 4 days. A lot of the comments below seem to suggest that the weather can be quite hit and miss so I am wondering how much there is to do indoors if the weather is quite bad that you would recommend to our family. Multiple comments seem to suggest restaurants are not open before 12 and then others say that the restaurants are closed between 2 and 7. Can someone please clarify this for me? We were thinking of travelling to Eperlecques in addition to seeing Dunkerque itself. Can anyone recommend anywhere else within a 30 minute drive which would be worthwhile visiting. And lastly. My daughter has informed me that she wants to try L'escargot while we are there. Is there a "best" place to go for that? Thank you. Elisa
