Michael was an excellent guide. I have done this tour before, but he was able to add interesting history and stories to our trip. He was very professional and a pleasure to be with for the morning. I highly recommend Overlord Tours and Michael.

Charles our very personable guide was so wonderfully knowledgeable. It was very special to have a passionate guide who has a college education that included military history! Charles kept just the right rhythm and balance; he didn't overload us with too much information and gave us some space and time to absorb and reflect about where we were. When we had questions, however, or asked to know more, he was ready with full answers and explanations! We highly recommend the full day tour we took. The morning gave us the big picture with the beach and the cemetery. In the afternoon, the tour was brought down to a much more personal level as we retraced the steps of one specific group of paratroopers. It brought the history home in a new way to see those hedgerows, fields and farm houses up close, with very little having changed.

Review of: Private Tour
Absolutely fantastic D-Day tour! There are some things you just have to 'see with your own eyes' to get a full understanding and perspective of this historic event, and going on this tour put it all together for me. I went on a private tour with just my daughter and Thierry was our tour guide, and he was exceptional. I am a younger veteran of later conflicts but served in both the 75th Rangers and the 82d Airborne so I had a very good working knowledge of the history and have read several books on the Overlord Operation. But you don't have to have a lot of historical background to make the trip worthwhile. What Thierry our guide brings to the table is incredibly deep knowledge from first-hand accounts from locals and the resistance who lived through this event as well as a very deep military historical accounting of the units that were there. Thierry is from the region, and a contemporary armed forces of France veteran himself and he is literally like a living encyclopedia of this history that's been passed down over time. The map books, the photos, the first- hand accounts and his personal knowledge of what happened passed down over time and analysis behind it made this trip the once in a lifetime experience that I hoped it would be. I saw basically everything in the American sector over the course of the entire day. I made it a point not to go to the museums while I was on the tour, but circled back to them in the following days in order to maximize my tour guide time which I'd recommend others who decide to take this tour to follow that same protocol. I saw Omaha beach, Pointe du Hoc, Utah Beach, the 82d La Fierre Merderet river bridge objective, St. Mere Eglise, the national ABMC-run US cemetery the 82d and 101st Airborne drop zone areas. There were lots of other intermediate points of interest but too many to mention here. I would also add that going to Pegasus Bridge in the British sector is also a great must-do if you can fit it in.

Pierre was a great tour guide and driver. His English was perfect and even converted everything to imperial units. We loved the tour and starting early in the morning we missed most of the crowds. Although none of us had relatives who participated in the D-day landings we did have some that served during WW II. We were all strongly impacted by what we saw and what Pierre explained to us. We highly recommend this company and tour. Favorite!

This tour was INCREDIBLE and the best part was how knowledgeable, kind, and funny our tour guide Charles was to our group. His deep knowledge of the area, of WWII history, and the band of brothers materials was incredibly impressive and kept us fully engaged all day long. Would HIGHLY recommend this tour with Charles.
