The experience was unforgettable. Iain worked with our tight afternoon schedule to provide a very enlightening tour. He was more than helpful finding us a place to park our rental car while we went on the Tour and recommending other places to see while we were in the area. We would do another tour with Iain in a heartbeat, his local knowledge and historical perspective is unmatched.

We gave Iain a huge challenge with a compressed time schedule and must-hit list of the DDay Beaches and historical sites, and he knocked it out of the park. He’s an expert on the region, extremely well informed on the historical side of things but also entertaining. We never would have seen as much as we did and learned as much as we did without his expertise. Highly recommended.

My wife and I have been wanting to do the D-day beaches for years and years…This year we finally took the plunge. The biggest difficulty when booking was finding the RIGHT company. The booking sites like Trip Advisor, Viator, Get Your Guide, Tours By Locals and another couple are just a maze. We spent weeks reading reviews and eventually sent out just 5 emails. Iain was our ‘first responder’ and so we just took that as a ‘sign’. We are both so glad we did! We booked a four-day tour with him including two full D-day tours, the Cheese & Cidre routes (Honfleur to pays d’auge) and then the Mont Saint Michel. We took the train thru from Paris on day one (and regretted it afterwards due to the stress of getting from the airport to the train station for our Bayeux train), and started day one on our own just taking in the stunning old town of medieval Bayeux. Truly stunning in every way. Iain our guide actually does a half-day Bayeux tour (if we’d known!), but picked us up at our hotel (Villa Lara) day two for our first Private ‘Allied Triangle Tour’, where we visited all of the Canadian sites that my wife wanted to visit (Ardennes Abbey, Courseulles and Beny war Cemetery) before moving across to the British Sector. The British Memorial and new mulberry harbor visitor centre, both just ‘recently’ opened, were incredible. That was our first day. Day 2 we did half n half, mixing Band of Brothers tour sites, with Utah, Omaha Beaches, Pointe de Hoc and US Cemetery. Last two days were a delight. The stunning Mont saint Michel, and oysters at Cancale for dinner on day 4, then the cheese & cidre route on our last day, with lunch by the port of Honfleur. We just saw SO much in those two days, and Iain ‘just’ guided, drove, narrated, made us laugh and most importantly, made us feel really welcome as soon as we met. We cannot recommend his company highly enough. 6-stars easily. If you get the chance, go with Normandyontour and Iain and he’ll simply take excellent care of everything. Thank you SO much Iain for all of it. See you soon!

During out two-week French tour, we spent 3 days in Bayeux and I took my 15 year-old daughter on a D-Day group tour and we both loved it! Our guide Ian was really knowledgeable, kind and friendly and went out of his way to create a great vibe on board the spacious minivan. There were only 8 of us, which made it all the more personal and interesting. He told great stories throughout and showed us some amazing sights. I would say that the pace was perfect too. Lots of free time to discover the sites on our own and take pics, pics, pics... One of the highlights of our 2-week holiday to France!

We can't say enough positive comments re our 1/2 day WWII U.S. Normandy tour w Iain. He met us as planned and gave us personalized options to suit our focus. While driving, he not only explained our plan but gave us large format photos of what occurred in June, 1944 so we could possibly relate. He's sooooo informative and made us feel, at every stop, like we were there in '44, from a soldier or French citizen's perspective. There wasn't a question he couldn't answer those 4 hours.
Don't hesitate -- just book a tour with Iain at ONtour !!

Thank you, Iain and NormandyONtour for an excellent tour of the American D-Day beaches and the American Cemetery. Iain’s extensive knowledge of the events and the area really helped bring the happenings of those few days to life.

Iain was amazing! His insight and the historical references were such a treat. He planned ahead and provided us small jars to collect our own sand from Omaha and Utah. Love the visit to the church and story about Robert Wright. Would book with him again in a heartbeat.

Iain was an amazing tour guide extraordinaire! We had the pleasure of having Iain for a full day shared D-Day tour of the US Beaches and again the next day for a private customized Allied Triangle Tour (with emphasis on some of the Canadian and British sectors, as well as the Pegasus Bridge Museum, which I have always wanted to go to with my son). Iain is extremely knowledgeable – it’s his job – but he is also very friendly, accommodating and really went out of his way on both the the group and private tour to make everyone feel ‘at home’ in the van. You can tell he’s a teacher at heart – quite funny at times too. We all posed for pictures (and they’re now up on ONtour’s website homepage – with our permission. Just asking us for permission is a courtesy in itself these days!). We had water, juice, snacks and coffee all day, used USB chargers for our phones and accessed the van’s Wi-Fi briefly at breaks. Above all, it was the stories which Iain told along the way from site to site, which transformed the tour into a ‘living’ memory. The sites themselves need no commentary to be honest as they speak volumes. We highly recommend booking a tour with ONtour (NormandyONtour) and make sure you ask for Iain!

Iain was such a wonderful guide: extremely knowledgeable, polite, friendly, helpful and genuinely caring. As far as being a tour guide goes, he does all of the Normandy sites, not just WW2 sites. He is a certified French guide too (he is Scots) and speaks a lot of languages. But since he has his guide’s card around his neck, he can guide in France’s historical sites. We wanted a guided tour next day to the Mont St.Michel and asked him if he could take us. He did - even though it was his rest day! I will have to leave a second review for that amazing day too. So, on day 1, on a group tour with 3 other passengers, we visited the US Beaches. Where to start? We did Utah, Sainte Marie de mont, Sainte Mere Eglise, the Museum there, and the Point de Hoc, and Omaha along with the US Cemetery with the flag retreat. It was everything we could have wished for and then some. The bit that really sticks out in my mind was the visit near Sainte Marie, and the old church with all the story boards all around the church. Just inside the church there’s a photo of the D-day soldiers at mass there in the church. That was incredibly moving. The tour just flies in and Iain kept us going all day with water, juice and even coffee! The van was immaculate and there was plenty of room to get in and out (we took the back seats and could hear him clearly through the audio system). Nothing but 5-star all day long. Thanks Iain! We are still talking about our tour today. Can’t wait till next year too – we will be back with ONtour.

If we could rate Iain, Normandy ONtour, higher we would!! My husband & I had a private two day tour booked with Iain. My husband had a list of all of the D-Day sites he wanted to see, and although it was challenging to do in just two days, Iain made it happen!! He was extremely knowledgeable and had laminated pictures & other visual aids. His van was clean and comfortable. He truly cares about his clients. He went out of his way to make our time in Normandy the highlight of our trip. We would highly recommend booking with him! You won't regret it!!
