This is a MUST SEE when visiting Caen!

This is an exceptional museum showcasing the WW II years. Presentation of multiple aspects of the war years is extremely well done. Don't miss it.

My 81 year old Dad and I visited on a day tour from Paris. We enjoyed the time we had here, but needed at least 2 more hours to see it adequately. Next time I will stay in the area so I can take my time.

We took a family of 7 here as a last minute change in our plans as we messed up the scheduled trip to Normandy the day prior. I actually thought that my young children would be bored. They were not. Both moms in their 80's really appreciated reliving world events during their youth even though it was a horrific time... More

You should visit Caen on the sole reason just to take two days and visit this museum. This was one of the best values I've ever invested in, I learned so very much from not only a French perspective, but also American and Canadian sides as well. This place tells the story of the war that I have never experienced... More

Moving, sad, evocative museum potraying mankind at one of its most horrendous crimes of humanity! Well planned layout with broad range of exhibits and excellent choice of guide tools. If one has an appetite after they have excellent eating place on site. We boarded train from Cherbourg (harbour port) which we got to from Portsmouth by ferry. Going back to... More

The Memorial is a vast underground museum. Covering mainly Operation Overlord, the Normandy invasion in June 1944. The live films captured from the Germans along with our own footage taken live at the time are absolutely stunning and the cinema is an absolute must visit. The Cold War is also featured along with the Vietnam war, the Japanese involvement as... More

A very well organised exhibition about the second world war and the holocaust by bullets. Great guide who told interesting stories. Also took a bustrip to Omaha Beach with the same guide, excellent!

I made a special trip to Caen via train from Bayeux. Glad I took the time as the museum was well laid out and the audio guide was very informational and easy to use. I'd recommend seeing the DDay film and portion of the museum as well.

Lovely grounds and exterior exhibits that you can see without going inside. It was a bit cold and raining there, but it was mid November. They have a limited opening schedule during the winter so verify before going, Easy to get to and find, beautiful grounds and buildings. A tribute to the men and women who lost their lives and...
