This Abbey is a little bit of a walk from downtown but worth it if you have time. Its very minimalist inside, and I was the only one in there when I went.

The Abbaye now houses the town administration so we did not see inside. However the Église abbatiale de la Trinité was open and houses the tomb of William the Conquerer's Queen. The whole complex and park are beautiful.

This is an attraction that depicts the grave of the wife of William, the Conqueror, and so it is full of joy. There are guided tours in the afternoon, however if you go there in the morning you will most likely have the whole place for yourself.

Nave of the old abbey church is really huge: very high, wide with lots of columns, and the altar, on the contrary, is modest, simple. The simplicity of the altar contrasts with Apse's bright colors frescoes on a domed ceiling and stained glass windows. A pity that we were not allowed to 5 hectares Michel d'Ornano park which is next... More

Beautiful visit to the Abbaye aux Dames. The buildings are stunning and it is very tranquil even in the height of the season. Recommend a visit.

Beautiful place, but because it's a working building all you can really do is walk along the gallery. The free guided tour makes no concession to non-French and only includes a couple of rooms.

Very beautiful from what we could see on the outside - unfortunately on weekends only opens at 14:00h !! We had planned on a morning at Caen and had plans for continuing our journey through Normandy so we were unable to stay longer.

The inside is pure zen, clean lines and if you get there at the right time, tranquil. Go to the center of the building and hum loudly and you will hear a Gregorian chant echo that will send chills down your spine. I believe it is a beautiful stone sound box, beautiful and cool in the summer and well worth... More

Free of charge but nothing special to see. Probably it will be more interesting if you manage to join one of the free tours.

A well preserved Romanesque building with Gothic era additions. Also the burial site of Queen Mathilda, wife of William the Conqueror.
