Come and visit La Cité de la Mer in Cherbourg, a family attraction all about man’s adventures under the sea, and a must when you are in Normandy. You can spend the whole day here and go round “Titanic, return to Cherbourg”, an exhibition which has its like nowhere else in France. It is on the theme of the celebrated liner, but also on emigration. You will also be able to listen to the Captain of Le Redoutable telling you about his life on board the largest submarine open to the public in the world. Then you will gaze in awe at our 17 aquariums, including the magical, 11-metre-deep, Abyssal Aquarium.

My partner loved this place, especially the nuclear submarine. A very interesting place to visit. Allow 3-4 hours as there is quite a lot to see. Not cheap but worth it if you like this kind of thing.

Had no idea 4-5 hours was needed-so please pace yourselves to get around huge premises. Not cheap but well put together-18 euros for adults-think 12 for children/students. First port of call was to go all around the french nuclear submarine-so cramped and machinery everywhere-they hand...More

A few museums in one, there are a large number of underwater subs you can see before having to pay to get in, it's great for a wet day. The aquarium was very interesting, the Titanic museum made you feel as if you were in...More
