Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

In itself, the museum is a lovely well-lit space; then, add pictures and sculptures from well known Old Masters (and more contemporary ones) - not too many, but enough - and you have a perfect location to escape the hubbub outside. A couple of Cranach's here, an intimate Fra Angelico there, a massive plaster head of Bonaparte, a Filippino Lippi, a Seurat.. The list could go on, but do go and see it for yourself, instead!

Monsieur TH was a son of Cherbourg, an artist, a teacher and a collector and when he did well for himself he sent a box of art to the town hall. They didn’t know who sent it or what to make of it but figured they could start a small gallery. Over the years the art kept coming and the gallery kept going and growing. It was a feast for the eyes and we enjoyed it immensely.

Very pretty museum where the works are displayed on 2 floors.
Very beautiful paintings by Jean François MILLET, notably the portraits of Pauline Ono.
Magnificent Virgin and Child by Ghirlandaio Domenico.
2 famous floral paintings by Van Aelst Willem Jansz
A magnificent marble statue of Marguerite with remarkably delicate details.
A very beautiful silver work from Maison CHRISTOPHLE deserves careful cleaning.
Located at the back of the Theater.
The staff is welcoming, very friendly and knows some anecdotes about certain works.
It’s a shame that the metal shutter of the store has still not been repaired because this prevents potential purchases.

After spending a little time in the square, people watching, and doing some gift shopping. We went to a lovely art museum, Musee d'art Thomas-Henry. It is not far from the central square of the town and can easily be overlooked if not following the signs. Its collection is not huge, but is very good with a wide range of art. It is accessed via lift, and is therefore wheelchair accessible (the lift is fairly small however). There was also an outdoor exhibit and a small gift shop.

Very well located museum, in the heart of the city, just behind the famous theater. Completely renovated: modern rooms, fluid route on two levels. Very rich collection, well presented. Exciting Millet Room. Very calm atmosphere, comfortable equipment and very friendly welcome.

This is such an unassuming museum from the outside. Located within the library building. It is beautifully laid out. The standard of the collection is wonderful and we really enjoyed our visit. Two floors accessible to all with lift. Well worth a visit.

This art gallery was free when we visited. The staff were welcoming. The permanent exhibition features local artists, but there may also be a temporary exhibition to enjoy

The Musée Thomas Henry is not on Quai Napoléon. It is now part of the Qasar complex about half a mile away. The official address is Esplanade de la Laïcité but I couldn't find that on a map. However just go to the Rue Vastel and you'll find it.

After struggling to find exactly where it was my visit was a delight. There are some fine paintings from the Renaissance up to the 20th century. An exhibition of the paintings of local artist (Valognes born) Félix Buhot was showing when I was there.
