- Yan CHong Kong, China882 contributionsA holiday resort for the richHalf an hour drive from Honfleur, but such a different place. The houses here look all new or upgraded. This is a city for the rich, who come to spend their holidays. The city centre is the casino and a conference place. The streets are lined with villas and chic boutiques selling labelled commodities. Instead of old time charm, the city smells of money!Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 27 October 2023
- SurvivoryLuxembourg City, Luxembourg1,107 contributionsB B - as in big & beachOne of the main reasons you spend time in Deauville is to go to the beach, in the summer at least. So you should not miss it even if you are off season for sunbathing. It stretches for as long as you can see, so I guess even on a sunny day in the summer it will not get too crowded. We were there in early july and it was a bit cool, so not many people in the water. Even if you dont plan on getting even your feet wet it is a nice stroll along the boardwalk.Visited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 3 July 2024
- Jackie186340Middlesbrough, United Kingdom73 contributionsA lovely day in Deauville and TrouvilleWe spent a lovely sunny day here in September. We were touring Normandie for the week and this was one of my “must go to” places. Parking was plentiful and at a reasonable cost - €6 for the day. The beach area is gorgeous with a boardwalk that stretches from the harbour right along the beach. There are numerous bars along the boardwalk both on and off the beach. We stopped at one of them Bar de la Mer for drinks. While prices were not cheap, we did expect to pay a premium for being on the beach and for being at an “upmarket” resort. I had an Aperol Spritz which came in at €15 while my other half had a pint of lager at €12. The only issue we had, having walked further back along the beach was that all of the public toilets were closed. Following on we got a taxi boat across the harbour over to Trouville which was €2.5 each. This saved us a further walk so was worth it. Trouville is probably my favourite resort of the two with beautiful buildings and a range of shops and restaurants all along the beach front and at significantly cheaper prices than the neighbouring Deauville. We ate in one of them, having our favourite Galletes and a glass of wine, which came in at approx. €35. Overall a very pleasant day and I would recommend this area to anyone visiting the beautiful region of Normandie.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 September 2024

What a beautiful town. Beautiful and elegant houses and very clean city. Market day on Saturday so expect a big crowd but very lively. The city center is fabulous. So many cafes and ice cream shops and bakeries. Would love to visit again

The sandy beach is great in Deauville and has a long board walk with private cabins built in the 1920s and named after famous actors and actresses. We hired a cabana and 2 mattresses which cost us EUR33 for a day. There is a bar where we had some lunch and a drink, you have to pay to use the public toilets which is 70c per person per visit

I have read in a local French paper that each morning in the month of August the horses taking part in the polo event are taken for a morning bath in the sea at Deauville. Has anyone seen this or know roughly what time this happens or where on the beach?

Beautiful long beach with loads of clean sand. Perfect for walking or sun bathing on a nice day. A couple of cafes to chill at. Whatever the weather, a nice way to spend time.

Although not many would visit a seaside resort in the middle of Winter this is one place worth visiting if one is in the area. The huge expanse of sand is impressive however the place shuts down for Winter so there is little chance of stopping over for a warm drink or a break from the cold wind

Ciao,
sto programmando un viaggio da quelle parti, ma avrei una domanda se qualcuno mi può aiutare.
Le spiagge tra Deauville o Cabourg nello specifico, sono libere o a pagamento? Si possono eventualmente affittare degli ombrelloni?
Grazie

Is it possible to rent the parasols and deckchairs ? How much does it cost and whom we have to ask for that? Could we do this in advance?
Written 6 August 2020
Not exactly true there's very strict laws about dogs on beaches and the locals walk to Trouville and walk their dogs there.
Written 22 February 2019
Not unless you want to rent a parasol or a lounge chair. If you just want to walk on the beach it’s free.

Hello everyone, I was just wondering if there's any public transport available close enough to walk from the beach?
Written 11 September 2016
I think in Deauville if you don't have a dog you feel out of place as everyone seems to have one, and although I don't know much about what the rules are, I am pretty certain it is no problem to have your dog with you, almost everyone else did
