Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a "must-see" if in Honfleur. A very serene and attractive early medieval interior, with a fantastically carved west portal.

This Church is not in the prime tourist area, so many visitors simply don't know about it and skip it.
That would be also the case with us if we found the parking closer to the center.
The Church is some 10-15 min walk from the Vieux Basin old harbor. It's a 15c reconstructed edifice after the 100y war destruction.

This is probably not as well known as St Catherine's, but it is an interesting church to visit. There are beautiful frescos on the walls and the painted ceilings are amazing. The tiles in the nave have been worn by years of use.

Eglise St Leonard is well worth a visit. It is not one of the prettiest churches you will find but it has a more "friendlier" feel than some.

This is a beautiful old church a few blocks away from the harbor in Honfleur. She's been damaged and burnt over the years, and shows her scars, but she is a survivor and worth the short walk for a visit.

I visited this church as part of our general visit to Honfleur. It has less visitors than the cathedral but it is worth walking a bit further to have a look.

Many times the church was badly damaged and burnt during the 100 years war with the English and also when the Huguenots vented their Protestant wrath. Rebuild, repair, re-envision, and forge ahead. Although a church is believed to have sat on this spot since 1186, the present incarnation is a mixture of styles (some with an Eastern flavor ala Orthodox; look at the tower) but it is mostly Gothic. The majority of the reconstruction took place between the 17th and 18th centuries.
St. Leonard is a really interesting saint who lived in the 500 AD timeframe. He converted in the late 400 AD era and asked the king if he could have the right to release prisoners as he saw fit. And he did. Chains miraculously burst, so say the spotty records of the time. He then became a hermit and prayed for the safe delivery of the King's wife who bore the king a son.
Today he is the patron saint of prisoners, women in labor (okay I can follow all that so far) and also he's the patron saint of cattle diseases (now I am befuddled).
The statues in the church show one of St. Roch (patron saint of communicable diseases like the plague) and also a statue of Joan of Arc. It has become like a contest for us to see how many churches we go into that have a statue and dedication to Saint Roch (Rocco in Venice).
The church interior is more modest and understated than other grand constructions we've seen throughout Europe but it is peaceful and the people are welcome to come and pray (doors are generally open). The surrounding neighborhood is such an attractive combination of the half-timber style done in beautiful colors and all has the distinctly Honfleur flavor.

The original church on this site was destroyed in the 100 Years War. It was rebuilt in the late 15th and early 16th centuries and is absolutely typical of the period. The unusual tower, however, dates to the mid-18th century. The interior is cool and very peaceful.
