This “old market square” is the location of Le Bucher, which makes it very historically significant. It is also home of what I consider an eyesore that does not fit the surrounding area and this is Eglise Sainte-Jeanne d’Arc. The square is very busy and...More

The tourist office has maps with excellent suggested historic walks around old Rouen. It’s all flat, it’s crammed with fabulous old buildings and you can break it up with coffee, cake, lunch, wine or whatever your “poison” is along the way. The Place du Vieux...More

Place du Vieux Marche did not deceive us though there was no market the day we went. Strolling around was really nice with amazing buildings around.

This is the area near the marker for what is believed to be the area where Joan of Arc was executed. There's a lovely church here, lots of small shops, and a number of restaurants including La Couronne, established in 1345. The oldest auberge in...More

It was more interesting to me for it's history then what it looks like today - Joan of Arc was reported burned at the stake here - one of the more despicable political acts in our sad human history. To stand there and remember that...More

The key attraction here is the number of restaurants which surround the central square. My wife and I had a difficult time understanding how the French, knowing their great history and culture, decided to erect such a dismal structure in the center.

There are both - airport and trains. Probably it should be easier to book flight to Paris, and then to take train to Rouen (they are quick).
