It's hard to miss the cathedral of Laon, as you can spot it from miles and miles away. It bathes in light at night and will undeniably draw you near to take a closer look. Spot the gargoyles everywhere, just as with the notre dame...More

A gorgeous cathedral, the Notre-Dame in Paris was styled on this building, and you can absolutely see it. Come and enjoy the incredible architecture, stained glass and ambience, but without the Parisian crowds.

I was only able to see the cathedral during nightime hours and couldn't make it inside, however the building is a great architectural fear with some stunning detail. Beautifully lit with blue lights in the towers and serves to dominate the skyline for miles around.

As you drive up to Laon you can see the cathedral. From the distance it looks like a crown -- hence the town's nickname: Crowned Mountain. The cathedral is one of the oldest we've visited which gave it an atmosphere like no other. Certainly worth...More

The architecture is amazing - the proportions and symmetry of the cathedral are awesome, it is massive in size yet feels light and airy. The carvings are excellent (although you need binoculars to see the details. There ought to be a competition to see who...More

A 5-tower cathedral with a stunning, bright, airy interior. Lots of elaborate carvings, and good examples of transitional (to gothic) architecture. The outside is a bit ponderous, but is spectacular in scale and scope. There is an audiotour available.

If you want carving on epic proportions then go to this Cathedral. You could spend a day just looking at every person or animal carved into it’s exterior. Huge Oxen jut out of the towers with their stone carved spiral staircases representing the magical oxen...More

This is an exceptional, 12th century gothic cathedral. Absolutely stunning inside and out - an incredible piece of architecture and so peaceful. Stained glass is beautiful. Highly recommended.

When in Laon we didn't go to Reims. From what I know the cathedral and the champagne cellars are the musts of the area.
