What a wonderfully colorful market
Aug 2021 • Couples
A wonderful medium sized open air market selling mostly food but also some clothing and souvenirs. From flowers to fruits and vegetables, lots of dried hams and meats, huge platters of paella and piles of lavender sachets. It was very pleasant to walk through and enjoy the stalls, that were a feast for the eyes and the camera. I didn’t detect any flies even though it was very hot, in all crowded areas all people wore face masks.

Go as early as possible
Aug 2019 • Couples
Try go as early as possible if you go by car. It can be really crazy to find a parking spot!
Once parked you can go and enjoy the market trough the narrow streets. You can find a lot of local specialities, vegetables, clothes and of course soaps.
Prices for the soaps gos from 2€ a piece or 10 for 18€

Busy but lots of great finds!

Were able to get great picnic snacks! Very VERY busy - go early in the day to avoid the crowds. Make sure to take a walk through the whole market before buying goods, lots of duplicate vendors with drastically different prices.

Very nice!

We liked this market so much! We enjoyed to look a lot of different things and people, and how some normal shop goes out to the street on Saturday. We had breakfast with croissant and then bought something for lunch, like tasty fresh cheese, charcuterie, figues...

Large Saturday Morning Market
Jun 2019 • Friends
You can buy just about anything here: Cheese, olives, fruit, vegetables, honey, clothes, hats, oils, lavender...This is a very extensive market and crowded. Come early to get a good parking space and a nice coffee and pastry for breakfast. Stay for lunch and enjoy the pizza and music. You can shop the local stores, as well.

One off the best in France
May 2019 • Couples
We’ve been lucky to travel in France quite a bit in the past decade and the markets in Apt are amongst the best we’ve seen. Spread out over almost the entire medieval area they offer a fantastic range including food, clothing, leather goods etc and so on it goes. We shop in markets and the food (fruit veg charcuterie cheese baked goods condiments) is very competitively priced. Makes it even better! A very French experience. If you are in this part of the Luberon it’s a must.

probably not visit on a winter saturday
Dec 2018 • Family
i was there at 10am, the stalls were plentiful but the products were pathetic.
Not many provencale produce, lots of chinese fakes or cheap wear. we walked through the main market streets as well as the side streets and even confirmed with a stall owner. dont think we missed the happenings.
we were expecting to buy lots of local produce home, but end up empty handed. this was probably the worst provencale marche i have ever been. Super disappointing, esp. when i did research on it beforehand and people are raving so much about it.
I suspect it's due to a winter saturday but it was the last weekend before xmas, so shouldnt all the stalls be out in full force?

A Market Experience not to be missed
Jun 2018 • Couples
We were fortunate to be in the Luberon region on a Saturday and our hostess guided us to this market. It was so large, filled with everything from fresh provencal fruits and veggies, locally grown flowers and plants to handcrafted clothing, art painted from the hues of the local Colorado mines and spices from Morocco. There were people of every ethnicity, speaking so many languages and dogs of every shape and size. Buskers serenaded the shoppers, some local and some from far away places. The air was like a festival, so whether or not you came to do serious shopping for the week, as many locals or just wanted to have an authentic French experience, this is a must do if you are lucky enough to be in the area on a Saturday. Our only advise is to go as early as comfortable while you're vacationing, because they do close up after 1PM and you want to see as much as possible! What a Market!

A typical Provencal market
Jul 2018 • Couples
I love a good market and I love to shop, so I was excited to experience as many as I could in southern France...Arles, Aix, L'Isle Sur la Sorgue, Apt, Menerbes. I kept reading that one was the best in France or another was the best for antiques. What I found was that they all sell the same things, table linens, cheese, sausages, vegetables, soap, olive oil, honey, baskets, clothing. I did find one vendor at this one that I didn't see anywhere else, she was selling custom made clothing that was very nice. But most vendors travel to the different markets on different days, so we saw many of the same vendors at each of the markets. The only thing different is the setting of the market. So pick a market or two that you want to visit and enjoy them, but don't rush to see every single one.
