We very much enjoyed seeing the recently un-earthed display of a Roman transport ship - awesome! Excellent displays of all sorts of artifacts recovered from the Rhone river. Definitely worth a visit.

I have traveled extensively in Europe (although not much in Italy) and had never seen a museum like this. The Roman antiquities were amazing -- from sarcogphagi to vases, coins and jewelry -- decorative architectural details, statues, mosaic tile flooring and a highlight: an antique...More

Located on the former sight of the Roman chariot racecourse, there is a model of the city and Forum where sports were prolific centuries ago. The museum is well designed and laid out with floors that flow into one another and very few steps. There...More

The river barge ruins are amazing. We walked along the Rhone river from town which took about 20 minutes.

We spent a couple of hours here on a Monday afternoon. The display of Arles over the last 2000 odd years was great. The re-creations of all the major attractions like the arena, the theatre, the forum, the crypt was highly explanatory. The mixing of...More

Museum provides a good overview of the history of Arles and the region. The boat is definitely the the high-light of the museum.

Not at the museum, no, but the city centre isn't far away and you'll find plenty of places to eat there.
