Very close to the palais des papes, this is a nice pedestrian square, where you can find lots of shops, restaurants and bars. Now, since this place is super touristy, I wouldn't suggest to eat directly in there, a drink maybe, but most restaurants are tourists trap and over priced. Ask around or check tripadvisor for some nice local restaurants... More

Restaurants are not very good and the area is a true tourist trap. The only memorable exception is to see the Belle Époque Carousel.

Such an authentic, old hotel. Rooms were average size but well appointed. Loved having a king sized bed. Bathroom very small but had a tub and shower. Staff wonderful, nice European breakfast and location FABULOUS! Heart of Avignon!

Nice square full of open-air eateries. Surrounded by historic-looking buildings. You're going to see this at least once while exploring Avignon because it is simply in the middle and unavoidable. Check out the coffee shop on the north side towards the train station to get inside but still have 270 degree views of the people and goings on.

Consists mainly of plenty of restaurants with outdoor seating. All of them seemed to be quite busy. However we chose to eat mainly at smaller establishment in the older part of town which is restricted to pedestrians. We did have breakfast and coffee in the square a couple of times! It has great vibrant atmosphere and also a Merrygoround for... More

It was a very neat area with lots of choices for food and shopping. A really fun area. I enjoyed eating at one of the cafes and watching the people go by...dogs go by....kids playing.... My favorite thing about France is they take time when they eat. No rushing. I would sit as I ate and catch up writing in... More

Lots of tourists and restaurants that cater to them. Good food for the prices. Lots of stores and a carousel. Feeds you into Pont d'Avignon. The partial bridge that the song references.

Overpriced touristy and all that that entails. Had 500cc local beer + similar shandy for €14.......typical rip off but we were thirsty for bier presse.

Plenty of places to eat here, but probably more expensive than those off the beaten track. Very much a tourist venue, right in the centre of the old city.

A very nice place with lots of little restaurants with terrasses, to have lunch with friends. A choice of many typical french restaurants is available : they are globally of good quality though not exceptional but the square is very central and perfect to make a pause during the day between two visits. For those who are looking for a... More
