Despite being on a cliff, the castle is easily accessible by elevator. If you are daring, I saw several locals going for their morning runs up and down the stone stairs that lead to the top. The views from above are incredible and you get to work your way through gardens, castle ruins and wooded trails along the way.

fab views in every direction, azur blue sea, snow on the mountains in winter, look down into the harbour, or to the market, the curve of the bay, watch planes land and take off, all this a short stroll up from the promenade.

We caught the elevator up and we're not disappointed by the incredible and gorgeous view of Nice. I'd recommend starting here if you're visiting Nice in order to get a grasp of the area and surroundings. Take some cheese, bread and fig paste from the market for a picnic up there! You won't be disappointed.

You can go up here by the lift or if you don't mind some stairs you can go up the back way through the old Town by the stairs next to the St François church. Wind your way slowly up to the very top and you have spectacular views not only over Nice and the Baie des Anges, but also... More

Great view of the city and lovely walks around the gardens. Plus you can get Crepes and coffee at the top :-)

It's demands some effort to get to the top but it worth it ! the view up from the hill is just stunning ! There is also an elevator for some 5 Euros to get to the top if you're not able to make the climb.

We took the “Petite Train” up to the top. Wow – I’m glad we did, as we would have never been able to walk up the steep path and roadway. The view from a couple of locations at the top offer absolutely beautiful views of the Nice coastline and beaches, plus the expanse of the city behind it. I don’t... More

We wandered up the steps and were surprised and delighted by the view, but more so by the stunning park at the top. There is a great little cafe that serves good coffee, something we found hard to find in France as well as light snacks. The park is beautiful. We were here in winter and it was a sunny... More

Castle Hill was an easy trek from our hotel on the Promenade des Anglais, and well worth it. The park is high atop a formerly strategic hill, and provides 360* vistas of Nice and its environs. A very safe and comfortable way to spend a couple of hours. And, it's free!
