I live in Nice. On several days of the week Place St. Francis is taken over by the fishmongers and is the best (only) fish market in Nice, certainly in Old Nice (try the shrimp). There are a few shops and cafe's around (under arches) to take a coffee and the local in-door swimming pool (open winter only) is under... More

This is a grat place to buy fish. Be careful of the seaguls, they are everywhere when the fish-sellers come !

On the first day of our break not many shops or museums were open, in respect for those killed on the seafront. We had a lovely lunch, can't remember the name of the cafe though, but the staff were friendly and attentive.

Little Italy in France ;) Messy, overcrowded, hot during day time. Typical for Italy, but unusually clean and ordered, as the other parts of the old town - Italian atmosphere with French luxury

We enjoyed a coffee and pastry as we watched the fish stalls pack away washing their trays in the old fountain, water spouting from the mouths of fish. very attractive little fountain.

A nice traditional and very versatile local market area situated in the Old Town. It is an experience inn itself walking up and down the market stalls viewing the local produce that is on sale. It is a busy area and there are lots of places to eat and drink within the close surrounding area. Well worth visiting!

This little square is close to the tram stop down a few stairs. Many little Old Town laneways lead to it. It is a wonderful fish market, (we buy the smoked haddock) in the morning. They wash down the fish display tables around lunchtime and the outdoor café tables replace them like mushrooms sprouting. The Gelati store to your right... More

This is a great starting point for exploring theold town. Certain days of the week there is a fish market. Many small stores in the small streets, good for shopping .
