This afternoon we went to Santo Sospir. It was a very long walk from the bus stop in rainy weather. The villa had been owned by Francine Weisweiller allowed and Jean Cocteau and his boyfriend to stay with her for 13 yrs. During this time Jean Cocteau painted all the walls of the villa with his art. There are also... More

By appointment each afternoon you can glimpse how the avant-garde set lived on the Cote D'azur. Still privately owned by the daughter of the original owner and friend of Jean Cocteau who decorated the house . A delightful excursion into the imagination of a great artist.

I like films and art but had never heard of Jean Cocteau before stepping into this magical house for a short trip back to the 1950s. The guided tour provided us a very complete history of the interesting life of Cocteau. The frescos are beautifulm the home very authentic to theperiod he resided there. You must make a reservation in... More

What a treat to tour the home of Cocteau! The estate is a work of art in itself! You won't be disappointed!

A visit to Santo Sospir allows the visitor to conjure up a detailed impression of an extraordinary time. Being a house museum the visitor gets close to and appreciated this site in a marvellous way. this is a fabulous visit and allows one to get close to Cocteau and his circle. And what a complex man he was.

I enjoyed our visit to this Villa but wouldn't put it on the "must see" list. We were staying at GHCF, which is a 5 minute walk from the Villa so it was convenient. If we had gone out of our way to visit I would have been disappointed.

When I did it, tours were still organized by an offshoot of the original landlord full of anedocts. You can visit a small beautiful house decorated by Jean Cocteau.

If you have any interest in the art of Jean Cocteau, this is a must see. The villa interior has most of its walls decorated by Cocteau. The resident caretaker gives a guided tour (excellent English). Even if the art is not for you, it's still worth a visit as the Villa, time warped in the 1950's has such a... More
